- Toss apples with sugar, flour, lemon juice and cinnamon. Transfer to a greased microwave-safe 9-in. deep-dish pie plate., Mix first four topping ingredients. Cut in butter until crumbly; sprinkle over filling. , Cover with waxed paper. Microwave on high until apples are tender, 5-7 minutes. If desired, serve with ice cream.

Steps:
- Combine the oats and the milk in a mixing bowl, cover and let stand about 30 minutes. Add the bran flakes and raisins, let stand 10 more minutes.
- Preheat oven to 190°C.
- Add cinnamon, sweetener, walnuts or pistachios. Arrange the sliced apples into a lightly greased baking pan, pour the apple juice over the apples and cover wiht the prepared mxture. Bake about 15 - 20 minutes.

Steps:
- Place oven rack in middle of oven.
- Preheat oven to 400ºF.
- Coat a 9-inch pie plate with cooking spray.
- To make crust, combine flour, sugar and salt in bowl of a food processor fitted with a steel blade; whiz to combine.
- Scatter butter over flour mixture; pulse until dough resembles coarse meal. Slowly add water, adding another tablespoon if needed, until dough comes together.
- Place dough in prepared pan and press dough up sides and around bottom to form a crust; prick bottom of crust with a fork 5 or 6 times.
- To make filling, combine all filling ingredients in a medium bowl and toss gently to combine; evenly spread filling over crust.
- To make crumble, in small saucepan, melt butter.
- Add oats, flour and sugar; stir to combine and scatter over apples.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Reduce heat to 350ºF and continue baking until crust and crumble are golden and apples are juicy, about 30 to 40 minutes.
- If pie crust or crumble is getting too dark, cover with foil for last 20 minutes of baking.
- Let rest at least 30 minutes before slicing into 8 pieces and serving.
- Yields 1 piece per serving.

- Use a variety of apples such as McIntosh, Granny Smith and Jonagold.
- If you like your apple filling a bit saucier, bake for an additional 10 minutes.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Generously grease an 8x8 baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
- To make the topping: Combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt and pecans in a large bowl until well-combined. Add in the pieces of butter and use your hands to squeeze and combine until the mixture becomes crumbly and resembles wet sand. (Alternatively, you can cut in the butter with a pastry cutter, or place all of the topping ingredients in a food processor and pulse until just blended. My favorite method is to use my hands, as I believe you get the best crumbly topping that way.)
- To make the filling: Place apples, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg and bourbon (or vanilla) in a large bowl and toss to combine. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes.
