Lemon Flavored Vodka Food

LEMON VODKA

Steps:

• In a saucepan, bring the juice, zest and sugar to a boil. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Cool.
• In a bottle or a sealed glass container, combine the syrup and vodka. Allow to infuse in a dark area for 7 or more days.
• Place a coffee filter in a strainer and filter the alcohol.
• Store in the freezer until ready to serve.
• Delicious after a winter activity. This lemon vodka is served in shot glass, in cocktails and martinis.

LEMON-FLAVORED VODKA

Steps:

• Using a vegetable peeler, remove peel from lemons in large strips, making sure not to remove any of the white pith. Reserve lemons for another use.
• Place lemon peel in a large jar with a lid; add vodka. Cover and let stand at room temperature at least 3 days and up to 1 month. Strain before using.

LEMON INFUSED VODKA RECIPE

Steps:

• Gather the ingredients.
• In a 1-quart (or larger) jar, pour the vodka and add the lemon peels. Seal, shake, and let infuse for 4 to 7 days. Shake the jar daily and test the infusion after the third or fourth day to see how the flavor develops.
• Once the infusion reaches your desired flavor intensity, strain out and discard the lemon peels using a fine-mesh strainer.
• Bottle the lemon vodka under a tight seal. Store in a cool, dark place as you would other liquors, and use in your favorite drinks.

FLAVORED VODKA

Steps:

• Rinse and dry fruit. Remove the zest (the colored part of the skin, not the white pith underneath) using a vegetable peeler. Add zest to vodka and let steep at room temperature for at least 3 days while inverting once or twice a day to mix flavors.
• Citrus Vodka- Grapefruit/Orange/Mandarin/Tangerine/Lime/Lemon Vodka *** Soak zest (the peel with the white removed) for three hours. Remove peel and chill. You can also add a small amount of grated peel for texture and a drop or two of food coloring.
• Pepper Vodka *** Add 2 tbs crushed peppercorns to the vodka. Let stand overnight. Strain through cheesecloth and chill. Again, you may want to leave some of the pepper in the bottle for effect.
• Anise Vodka *** Add 1 tsp anise seeds to the vodka. Let stand 2 hours. Strain through cheesecloth and chill.
• Fresh Ginger Vodka *** Peel a (1 inch) square piece of fresh ginger. Cut 8 thin slices and then cut them in half. Add them to the vodka and steep from 5 to 10 days. Strain if desired.
• NOTE: In the case of simply flavoring the vodka rather than exposing it to heat, you may want to use a more expensive vodka since these are made for sipping slowly and require a smoother alcohol base.
