Do you usually have leftover hot dog and hamburger buns? Well, most of us do so I long ago I invented the "Wienie Burger"

3 hamburger buns
6 hot dogs
1 onion
3 slices American cheese

Steps:

  • Slice hot dogs lengthwise and fry or grill.
  • Lay them opened on leftover hamburger buns.
  • Cover with a few rings of onion and top with a slice of cheese.
  • Broil just until the cheese melts.
  • Top with mustard or ketchup or whatever you like.

1 -1 1/2 cup diced turkey or 1 -1 1/2 cup chicken
3 hardboiled egg, chopped
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
2 tablespoons chopped onions
salt & pepper

Steps:

  • Mix together first 6 ingredients.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Moisten with more mayo if necessary.
  • Fill rolls or buns, wrap in foil and bake at 400 for 15- 20 minutes.
  • *Orpile on French bread (split) and broil til hot and bubbly.

A quick treat that will help to use up Easter's leftover hot cross buns

4 tbsp soft butter
2 tsp cinnamon
2 eggs , beaten
100ml milk
4 hot cross buns , split in half
vanilla ice cream and maple syrup, to serve

Steps:

  • Mix 3 tbsp of the butter with half the cinnamon and mash together. Beat together the egg, milk and remaining cinnamon. Sandwich 2 slices of hot cross bun together with half the cinnamon butter and repeat with the remaining two slices.
  • Dip in the egg mix and leave to soak for a few secs. Heat the butter in a frying pan until foaming. Cook the hot cross buns for 1-2 mins each side until light golden (you may need to do this in two batches). Press down on them as you cook. Serve each portion topped with a scoop of ice cream and a drizzle of maple syrup, if you like.
