Provided by Robert Irvine : Food Network

Categories     appetizer

Time 25m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

6 dozen fresh clams (littlenecks or middlenecks, your choice)
3 tablespoons grapeseed oil
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 large onion, chopped
1 cup white wine
2 cups clam juice or water
Chopped parsley leaves
Salt and pepper
1/2 cup melted butter (1 stick)

Steps:

  • Wash the clams thoroughly and remove any blemishes. They should have no odor. Heat oil in a large saucepan (with a cover) over medium heat and cook garlic and onion until translucent. Add the wine and let cook for a couple of minutes to combine the flavors. Add the clams and clam juice (or water) and cover the pan for about 10 minutes until the clams open. Discard any clams that do not open and remove clams to serving bowls. Season the juices in the pan with salt and pepper to make a sauce. Pour the sauce and melted butter over the clams.

KOREAN STEAMED CLAMS APPETIZER

Korean Steamed Clams Appetizer image

This is fun to do on a picnic especially if you can dig the clams right there. Make the sauce at home and bring it along. You can put the sauce on them a few hours ahead of time if you are serving them at home and keep them in the fridge if you plan to serve them cold - I like them at room temperature

Provided by Bergy

Categories     Lunch/Snacks

Time 22m

Yield 24 clams

Number Of Ingredients 8

24 littleneck clams
3 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons sesame oil
3 cloves garlic, chopped
2 scallions, chopped
1 tablespoon ground toasted sesame seeds
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons jalapeno peppers, finely chopped

Steps:

  • Discard any clams that do not close when you give them a good rap (don't smash them) Scrub them twinkly clean.
  • In a large pot (big enough to hold the clams in a single layer) bring 1 cup of salted water to a boil and drop in the clams, cover and steam for 6 minutes or until the clams open (if any clams do not open discard) Meanwhile whisk together the remaining ingredients.
  • Remove clams and drain.
  • Remove 1 part of the shell so the clams are sitting in a half shell, loosen the clam with a twist of a knife Pour a little of the sauce onto each clam.
  • Serve hot or cold.

STEAMED CLAMS WITH LEMONS AND CALABRIAN CHILES

Steamed Clams with Lemons and Calabrian Chiles image

Provided by Antonia Lofaso

Time 30m

Yield 2 to 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 sticks unsalted butter
2 sprigs fresh parsley, plus chopped fresh parsley for garnish
2 sprigs fresh rosemary
2 sprigs fresh thyme
2 tablespoons chopped garlic plus 1 whole clove garlic
2 tablespoons chopped preserved lemon
1 tablespoon chopped Calabrian chiles
24 Manila clams
1 cup white wine
3 lemons, cut in half
Four 2-inch slices ciabatta bread
Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
Kosher salt

Steps:

  • Preheat the grill over medium-high heat.
  • Add the butter, parsley sprigs, rosemary, thyme and chopped garlic to a medium Dutch oven over medium-high heat and allow the butter to melt. Add the preserved lemon, Calabrian chiles and clams and stir to combine. Cover the clams with the wine, then bring to a simmer and allow the clams to open and the sauce to reduce, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, put the lemon halves and bread on the grill and allow to char all over, 2 to 4 minutes. Remove both from the grill. Rub each piece of bread with the whole clove of garlic and drizzle with the olive oil. Set aside until ready to serve.
  • Remove the clams from the Dutch oven to a large serving bowl. Allow the sauce to reduce for another 2 minutes over high heat. Taste and adjust the sauce with salt, if needed. Add the charred lemon and bread to the serving bowl and pour over the reduced sauce, sprigs and all. Garnish with the chopped parsley.

STEAMED CLAMS WITH CILANTRO AND RED PEPPER SAUCE

Steamed Clams With Cilantro and Red Pepper Sauce image

I got this recipe idea from a co-worker and adjusted the ingredient amounts slightly per my personal taste. The recipe originally was indicated to serve six people, but this would not go over well in my household. DH and I usually buy a dozen clams, which we share. I have not tried it yet, but it sounds succulent. I would serve it as an appetizer or increase the recipe and serve as a main entre.

10 EASY KOREAN APPETIZERS - INSANELY GOOD RECIPES

From insanelygoodrecipes.com

Published 2021-12-21
Category Appetizers, Recipe Roundup
  • Kimchi Pancakes. Kimchi pancakes may not be precisely like the pancakes you’re used to eating; they’re crispier and much more savory, for one thing. However, that doesn’t mean they aren’t delicious.
  • Korean Beef Tacos. If you’re looking for a dish with a whole plethora of flavors in it, you’ll love these insanely scrumptious Korean beef tacos. You’ll make them with Sriracha, soy sauce, red pepper flakes, ginger, brown sugar, garlic, and more.
  • Tuna Pancakes. Tuna pancakes may seem disgusting, but if you think of them more like salmon patties made with tuna, they don’t sound nearly as bad. These are a quick appetizer that you can whip up in 20 minutes or less with nothing more than tuna, eggs, green onions, onions, bell peppers, mayo, flour, salt, pepper, and oil.
  • Korean Oven Baked Chicken Wings. I don’t know about you, but it’s hard for me to turn down a plate full of saucy chicken wings. That’s precisely what these are, but the sauce has a sweet and spicy Korean flavor.
  • Pajeon (Korean Savory Pancakes) Pajeon is another excellent option if you’re looking to try Korean-style pancakes. They’re not quite as crispy as the Kimchi pancakes above.
  • Korean Fried Zucchini. If you’ve ever spent any time in the south or have even just passed through on your way to somewhere else, you’ve probably had fried zucchini.
  • Korean Macaroni Salad. Korean macaroni salad tastes like macaroni salad from pretty much anywhere. It has tender macaroni, a few veggies, and a creamy, zesty sauce that gives it its kick.
  • Korean Air Fryer BBQ Chickpeas. If you’re in the market for a healthy snack that’s high in protein and fiber, you can’t beat BBQ chickpeas. And if you have an air fryer, they’re impossibly easy to make.
  • Korean Lettuce Salad. Korean lettuce salad may just sound like salad, but in fact, it’s much simpler than traditional salads. All you’ll need is lettuce, onions (white and green), and toasted sesame seeds.
  • Gamjajeon (Korean Potato Pancakes) Perhaps unsurprisingly, the last option on our list is another well-known Korean pancake, the gamjajeon. If you’ve ever had potato latkes or fritters, you’ll have an idea of what these are.
