CRAB LEGS WITH GARLIC BUTTER



Crab Legs with Garlic Butter image

These crab legs are steamed to perfection, then tossed in a flavorful garlic butter sauce. A simple, yet satisfying way to enjoy fresh seafood, and it takes just minutes to put together! Crab legs make for a great appetizer or main course option.

Number Of Ingredients 6

6 pounds crab legs (Dungeness crab, king crab, snow crab or a combination of different types)
1/2 cup butter
1 tablespoon minced garlic
salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
lemon wedges (optional)

Steps:

  • Place 3 inches of water in a large, deep pot over medium heat. Bring the water to a boil.
  • Crack the crab legs with a seafood cracker.
  • Place the crab legs in the pot and cover.
  • Cook for 5-7 minutes until crab is heated through. If you have raw crab, cook for 10-12 minutes until flesh is red/orange and opaque.
  • Drain the crab legs and cover to keep warm.
  • Melt the butter in the pot. Add the garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds. Turn off the heat and stir in the salt, pepper and parsley.
  • Return the crab to the pot and toss to coat with the garlic butter. Serve immediately, with lemon wedges if desired.

1 1/2 to 2 pound precooked king crab leg
lemon wedges
BUTTER SAUCE
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Steps:

  • 1. Heat the butter, garlic, and lemon juice in a saucepan over medium?low heat. Stir until well blended. 2. Place an inch of water in the bottom of a large pot, set a steamer basket on top, and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and add the crab legs. Cover and steam 3 to 5 minutes or until heated through. Remove the crab from the pot with tongs. 3. Serve with lemon wedges and the flavored butter sauce.

  • Place crab legs in a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. You can add lemon wedges around if you like (not included in recipe ingredients).
  • Prepare garlic butter sauce – In a small sauce pan, melt butter over medium to low heat. When melted, pour olive oil and add garlic. Saute for about 2 minutes. Add lemon and lime juice and dried parsley. Stir to combine and continue cooking for another 2 minutes. Turn off heat.
