  • Choose a cold press juicer or juice extractor. It’s the easiest way to make juice yourself at home. You can purchase either a cold press juicer (also known as an Auger-style juicer) or a juice extractor.
  • Blend instead of juicing to get more nutrients. Blenders let you eat the whole fruit, skin and all. The peel is where most of the nutrients are stored in fruits and vegetables.
  • Buy pasteurized produce. Untreated produce has the potential to make you sick. When you’re shopping for fruits and veggies, make sure you buy produce that has been pasteurized or treated in some way.
  • Make juice out of veggies and fruit. As a rule, your juice should be 2/3 vegetables and 1/3 fruit. Fruits generally contain a lot of sugar, which can cause your blood sugar to spike.
  • Avoid replacing meals with juice. Replacing a meal with juice is not a healthy way to lose weight. Juice cannot give you enough calories or nutrients that you need in your daily life.
  • Eat around 2,000 calories daily. Any less could leave you feeling hungry. Don’t replace any of your meals with juice, and stick to a well-balanced diet to lose weight safely.
  • Consume whole fruits and veggies too. Juice is not a replacement for fruits and vegetables. In fact, eating fruits and vegetables whole may actually be better for your body than juicing them.
  • Eat 46-56 grams of protein daily. Fruit and vegetable juice won’t provide you with any protein. On average, adult women need to consume about 46 g protein daily and adult men need to consume about 56 g daily.
  • Add in a source of fiber to your diet. Most of the fiber in fruits and veggies is contained in the peels. If you’re juicing your produce, you aren’t going to get a lot of that nutritious fiber that your body needs.
  • Get moving every day. Exercise will help you lose weight much faster. If you burn more calories than you eat every day, you’ll shed pounds in no time.
