This Instant Pot Apple Crisp is a delicious, classic fall dessert made easy in your pressure cooker, and the apples are so tender!

1 tbsp butter
5 apples, peeled and cored (any type)
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cups oats

Steps:

  • Add butter to the bottom of Instant Pot and spread around so it covers the pot. Add in apples, pouring sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and water overtop.
  • In a large bowl, melt butter, then toss with flour and sugar. Stir in oats, then add to layer of apples in the Instant Pot.
  • Place lid on Instant Pot and make sure valve is set to seal. Press the pressure cook button and set to high, then pressure cook for 1 minute.
  • The Instant Pot will take about 5-10 minutes to come to pressure, then notify you it's done by beeping. Press the Cancel button then do a quick release of the pressure on the Instant Pot by flicking the switch at the top with a spoon. Open the lid when pressure gauge has dropped and the lid opens easily.
  • Serve apple crisp with whipped cream or ice cream and enjoy! If you want to make the topping crispy, you can broil each serving for 1-2 minutes before enjoying.

Although you won't get that iconic crispy topping, this pressure cooker apple crisp is packed with so much flavor and really comes together in no-time at all!

8 large apples (Granny Smith or Gala or a mixture of both)
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice or 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup apple juice
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 1/4 cups old fashioned oats
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

Steps:

  • Peel the apples, core them and cut them into a large dice. In a large bowl, combine the diced apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, pumpkin or apple spice, sugar, vanilla, apple juice and cornstarch until evenly mixed. Pour into a 6-quart or larger Instant Pot.
  • In the same bowl, make the topping. Combine the flour, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon and oats. Add the butter and rub with your fingers until coarse crumbs form. Pour over the apples in an even layer.
  • Lock the lid and set the pressure valve to seal. Cook on high pressure for 1 minute. Quick release the pressure until all the steam has escaped and the lid unlocks. Carefully open the lid and serve the apple crisp with either whipped cream or ice cream.

  • In a medium bowl, mix all ingredients for the apples together. Make sure apples are coated with spices. Set aside.
  • Turn on the Instant Pot’s saute feature. Add pecans and oats to the bottom of the Instant Pot and let cook for 4-5 minutes stirring frequently to avoid burning. You are essentially toasting your pecans and oats. Shut off Instant Pot and remove oats and pecans and place into a medium-size bowl.
  • Place the rest of the topping ingredients into the bowl with the toasted oats and pecans and use your hands or a wooden spoon to mix all ingredients together.

  • To prepare filling: Combine apples, lemon zest, lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt in a large bowl. Let stand for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, prepare topping: Combine oats, pecans, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and kosher salt in a medium bowl. Add butter and, using your hands, rub the butter into the flour mixture until it comes together into large clumps. Set aside.
