Sugar. Believe it or not, you can use sugar as a simple fabric stiffener, too! Now, in all honesty, this is an old-fashioned recipe that may not provide the permanent results of many commercial products you can buy today.
Wallpaper Paste. Wallpaper paste dissolved in water can also make a fairly permanent fabric stiffener. Most wallpaper paste contains starch and cellulose ethel, both products that have strong adhesion.
