HOW TO COOK HALLOUMI

- Cut the halloumi into 1cm / 1/3in thick slices.
- Preheat a skillet on medium heat. If you're using non-stick, there's no need to add oil to the pan, but if not, add a dash of olive oil.
- Add halloumi slices to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side for another 1-2mins.
- Serve as is, or squeeze a little freshly lemon juice over the top.
- Preheat your BBQ or grill.
- Cut the halloumi into bite sized cubes, then thread onto a skewer.
- Brush the halloumi lightly with some olive oil, then cook for 5 minutes, turning regularly, until golden brown on all sides.

HOW TO COOK HALLOUMI
An easy method for how to cook halloumi perfectly every time! For beautifully soft, squidgy, salty halloumi cheese that can be used in many different ways.

Steps:
- Cut the block of halloumi into slices. Don't make them too thin - around half a centimetre thick is good. You can use a crinkle cutter to cut the halloumi if you'd like the fake 'grill lines'.
- Place a non-stick frying pan over a medium heat, and add the slices of cheese in a single layer. Don't overcrowd the pan. Allow the cheese to cook for a few minutes without moving it - it will release some liquid, which will then cook off. When the excess liquid has evaporated, the underside of the cheese will turn golden brown fairly quickly. When it's cooked to your liking, turn each piece over, and repeat with the other side. The second side will brown more quickly, as the liquid has already been released.
- Fried halloumi is best served immediately.

3-MINUTE FRIED HALLOUMI CHEESE MEZE
Halloumi is a fabulous cheese from Cyprus and a favorite in Greek cooking. It's an ideal frying cheese because it doesn't melt.

- Gather the ingredients. Heat a nonstick frying pan over high heat.
- Dry the halloumi cheese slices by blotting them with a paper towel. Place the slices on a plate and brush both sides lightly with the olive oil to coat each thoroughly.
- Sear the cheese in the hot pan until each slice develops a deep brown crust, about 1 minute on the first side and 1 to 2 minutes on the other.
- Place the fried cheese on a plate and garnish with the pepper, oregano or mint leaves, tomatoes, and vinaigrette.

- How to pan-fry halloumi. This is probably the easiest method for cooking halloumi – it’s certainly the one I do most often. It’s really simple.
- how to grill halloumi. Grilling halloumi is almost a combo of frying it and grilling veggies or meat. Depending on how large your slices are and how likely they are to fall in the gaps in the grate, you may want to cook them on a sheet of foil (or even in foil packets).
- how to bake halloumi. Baked halloumi won’t get as golden and crispy as the other options here. Instead, it releases a lot of water and goes almost wrinkly on the outside.
- how to pan-fry even crispier halloumi. This method is one I actually made up myself! I realised that since you can cook tofu or strips of beef to be crispy (think crispy chilli beef – the classic Chinese takeout!).
- Deep-Frying. I don’t actually have any deep-fried halloumi recipes on here yet, but that’s because I prefer to pan-fry it. However, if you’re looking to deep-fry halloumi with a breadcrumb coating then the method is actually pretty similar to making fried chicken!
