20 HOTTEST HOT SAUCES IN THE WORLD (2023) - PARADE
From parade.com
Estimated Reading Time 6 mins
- Mad Dog 357 No. 9 Plutonium, $127.99 on Amazon. There is no way in hot and fiery hell that there's a human alive on this planet who can take the heat of Mad Dog 357 No. 9 Plutonium.
- The Source Hot Sauce, $112.66 on Amazon. Without any flaming-hot red, orange or yellow messaging on its label, you might mistakenly view The Source Hot Sauce as non-threatening.
- The End Hot Sauce, $27.99 on Pepper Palace. As in, it'll feel like the end of your life when you're choking post-sauce. Ha, we're kidding (not really).
- Get Bitten Black Mamba 6 Hot Sauce, $24.99 on Amazon. Yikes! If you want your mouth to feel attacked from the inside out, like your lips have just been bitten by a deadly snake, then help yourself to a drop of Get Bitten.
- Bumblef**ked Hot Sauce, $10.50 on Hot Sauce. TBH, we would have loved to rank this one higher simply based on the hilarious name. While we give Bumblef**ked extra brownie points for brand name innovation, the truth is 6 million SHUs.
- Mad Dog 357 Pepper Extract, $59.99 on Amazon. Coming in at #6 is another Mad Dog specialty: Mad Dog 375 Pepper Extract. It may be sixth on the list, but don't get comfortable because a drop of this hot sauce is anything but.
- Meet Your Maker Death Sauce, $40 at iBurn. Are you seeing a theme here with the names of the hottest hot sauces? Yeah, they all have a theme of death! Well, it's no wonder Meet Your Maker Death Sauce is called what it's called.
- Mad Dog 44 Magnum, $46.99 at Mad Dog 357. We think it's safe to say they know what they're doing over at Magnum when it comes to hot sauces. After all, several of them have made the hottest of the hot sauce lists.
- Z Nothing Beyond Extremely Hot Sauce, $15.95 at Amazon. IMHO, the product description has it right; "It won't kill you but you'll wish it did." We may be at #9 in the list but we're still at that only-use-one-drop-at-a-time-as-a-food-additive level.
- Hottest Sauce in the Universe: The 2nd Dimension, $27.99 at Pepper Palace. Just one look at this hot sauce and we are literally terrified. It's got 3.5 million SHUs and a bright-blue hot-wax seal that looks as menacing as it sounds.

- Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin’ Sauce: 350,000 SHU. Who knew a chain restaurant could quickly turn into a pain restaurant? Buffalo Wild Wings' Blazin' Sauce is so hot that they built a challenge around it in which brave souls must eat 12 blazin' wings in six minutes to score a T-shirt.
- El Yucateco Red Chile Habanero: 5,790 SHU. The only time I've seen this sauce is on the shelf of a grocery store — this bottle looks like it means business (and it does).
- Crystal Hot Sauce: 4,000 SHU. There's a long-standing feud between "Louisiana" Hot Sauce and Crystal Pure Louisiana Hot Sauce over which is the "ORIGINAL" Louisiana-based sauce.
- Topatío Hot Sauce: 3,000 SHU. Get ready, because from now on we're going to be climbing the heat scale pretty fast. Tapatío can be found in sizes ranging from individual packets to gallon-sized bottles and packs a pretty good punch at 3,000 SHU.
- Huy Fong Foods Sriracha Sauce: 2,200 SHU. Ah, Sriracha. Not for the faint of heart (like me). Founded in Los Angeles in 1980, Huy Fong Foods is tasty, garlicky, and versatile AF.
- Cholula Hot Sauce: 1,000 SHU. This is the wooden-topped brand I see in almost every Mexican restaurant I go to, and for good reason (it's satisfyingly HOT).
- Texas Pete: 750 SHU. Everyone's got some Texas Pete sitting around in their pantry, right? This is a great option for when you want something a little hotter than normal but you also want to feel your tongue at the end of the day.
- Tabasco: 700 SHU. Tabasco's original sauce might not be the hottest brand around, but it's certainly the oldest! Founded in Avery Island, Louisiana in 1868, the sauce was originally packaged using discarded cologne bottles.
- 'Louisiana' Hot Sauce: 450 SHU. "Louisiana Hot Sauce" is another very common hot sauce option in the United States, and the low heat rating tells you why it's such a crowd pleaser.
- Frank's RedHot Original: 450 SHU. I love myself some Frank's RedHot, especially when making buffalo chicken dip, and this low heat ranking tells me why: I'm a wuss.

- Frank’s RedHot Sauce – 450 SHUs. Frank’s RedHot is a true classic, dating back to the early 1900s in Louisiana. It is also credited as a key ingredient in the original Buffalo wing sauce, created in Buffalo, NY.
- Tabasco Hot Sauce – 2,500 SHUs. Another household staple (at least in our house) is Tabasco Brand hot sauce. They make a variety of new flavors, branching out from their original recipe, but the original is truly special.
- Cholula Hot Sauce – 3,600 SHUs. Cholula is one of our favorite grocery store hot sauces for everyday use. The flavor is unlike anything else we have tried and the heat level is respectable.
- Dawson’s Original Hot Sauce – 82,000 SHUs. As things heat up, the brands become less well-known. However, Dawson’s creates some of the most delectable hot sauces out there, and their ‘Original’ sauce is among them.
- Da Bomb Beyond Insanity – 135,000 SHUs. Well-hated in the hot sauce community for years and years, Da Bomb is notorious for its aggressive heat. Yes, we’ve tried it, and it is just as bad-tasting and brutally spicy as all the unfortunate Hot One’s guests make it seem.
- Dingo Widow Maker – 682,000 SHUs. Debuting on season 11 of Hot Ones, the Widow Maker took the number 9 spot on the spicy wing lineup. This means it is undoubtedly spicy to the everyday person, but it only marks the halfway point on our hot sauce Scoville scale list.
- Dragon In The Clouds – 1,000,000 SHUs. Moving into the 7-digit SHU level of heat, the unique Hot Ones / 88 Rising collaboration brought us Dragon In The Clouds in 2019.
- Mad Dog 357 Gold Edition – 1,000,000 SHUs. Mad Dog is a spicy food phenomenon. Hailing from Massachusetts, David Ashley started creating his sauces and culinary horrors in 1991.
- The Last Dab Triple X – 2,000,000+ SHUs. Now this is how you do a super-spicy hot sauce. The Last Dab Triple X hot sauce is meant to be used, not just to be a novelty.
- Satan’s Blood – 800,000 SHUs. And now we’ve entered ‘are you kidding me?’ territory. This is only loosely described as a hot sauce since the ingredients consist of pepper extract, an emulsifier, and vinegar.
