1-3/4 cups packed brown sugar, divided
1 cup all-purpose flour
6 tablespoons baking cocoa, divided
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup 2% milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1-3/4 cups boiling water
Vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine 1 cup brown sugar, flour, 3 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and salt. Combine the milk, butter and vanilla; stir into dry ingredients just until combined., Spread into a 3-qt. slow cooker coated with cooking spray. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. In another bowl, combine the remaining brown sugar and cocoa; stir in boiling water. Pour over batter (do not stir)., Cover and cook on high for 4 to 4-1/2 hours or until a toothpick inserted in the center of cake comes out clean. Serve warm with ice cream.

1 c chocolate syrup
1 c hot water
Optional Toppings: vanilla ice cream (thawed frozen whipped topping, maraschino cherries, sprinkles)

Steps:

  • Spray your crock pot with cooking spray
  • Pour your brownie batter in your crock pot, spreading evenly
  • In a bowl, combine your chocolate syrup and water and pour over your batter
  • Cover and cook on high for 2 1/2 - 3 hours, until the edges are just set
  • Take off the lid and let it stand for 30 minutes so the middle can set up
  • Serve with your favorite topping

1 cup all-purpose flour*
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
3/4 cup hot water (it doesn't need to be boiling; I just use the hottest water from the tap)
Vanilla ice cream for serving
2.5 - 3.5 quart slow cooker

Steps:

  • To a medium bowl, add all of the batter ingredients (flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, milk, butter, and vanilla extract). Whisk together until blended and smooth. Using a spatula, spread batter in the bottom of a Crock Pot.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry layer (granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder). Sprinkle evenly over the top of the batter.
  • Slowly pour the hot water over the top.
  • Cook on high until cake has puffed up and it springs back when you poke it with your finger, 3 to 4 hours.
  • Use a spoon to scoop cake and sauce onto dessert plates along with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Serve.

Steps:

  • NOTE: This recipe calls for a small 2-3 quart slow cooker. I do not own that small of a slow cooker. My smallest slow cooker is 4.5 quarts. So I doubled this recipe to fit my slow cooker. Please keep that in mind when making this. Directions: Spray a 2-3 quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. In a bowl, sift together flour, sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Then stir in milk, oil and vanilla extract. Give it all a good stir until combined, then fold in nuts (if using). Spread batter evenly into your slow cooker. In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar and remaining 4 tbsp. cocoa powder. Stir in hot water until smooth. Pour evenly over batter in slow cooker. DO NOT STIR. Cover and cook on high setting for 2-2 1/2 hours (it took about 2 1/2 hours for mine to bake). So what happens is, on the top, you will have your cake layer. Underneath that cake layer is your fudge sauce. Slice up your cake and spoon it up on a plate or bowl. Then scoop up some of that hot fudge sauce that is on the bottom, and drizzle a bit of that on top of your cake. Serve with a scoop of ice cream!

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar, divided
1/4 cup + 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, divided
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
3/4 cup milk (I used cashewmilk; chocolate milk may be substituted)
1/3 cup vegetable or canola oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups boiling water
ice cream and/or whipped topping or whipped cream for serving, optional but recommended

Steps:

  • Line a 6-quart slow cooker with a liner if using one. I prefer to use liners for easy cleanup and storage, see step 8. Spray liner or base and sides of slow cooker with cooking spray; set aside.
  • To a medium bowl, add the flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and whisk to combine.
  • Add the milk, oil, vanilla, and stir until just moistened.
  • Turn batter out into prepared slow cooker and spread it into a smooth, even, flat layer.
  • Evenly sprinkle the chocolate chips; set aside.
  • To a medium bowl (the same one you already used is fine, just wipe it clean with a paper towel), add 1/2 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons cocoa powder, the boiling water, and whisk to combine.

  • Remove the top portion of the slow cooker (the ceramic bowl the cake is cooking in) from the base (heating element) to allow cake to cool momentarily before serving. I recommend serving with ice cream and/or whipped topping or whipped cream.
