This easy Italian Hoagie Dip recipe is one of my family's all-time favorite recipes. It has everything that an Italian Hoagie has on it but it's chopped up and served as a dip. Every time I make it, it gets devoured!

- In a large bowl, combine the deli meats and cheese, onion, lettuce, tomato and banana peppers.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the mayo, olive oil. oregano, basil and pepper flakes.

- Make the dressing by combining mayonnaise, olive oil, basil, oregano, garlic powder and pepper flakes. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, pepperoncini, salami, ham, capicola, mortadella and provolone cheese.
- Toss with the mayonnaise dressing and pour into a serving bowl.
- Lay out the bread slices on a platter and drizzle the herbed oil over the bread slices as well as over the bowl of hoagie dip and serve.

MARY ALICE'S HOAGIE DIP
Steps:
- Chop the onion, pepperoncini, lettuce and tomato into bite-size pieces. Dice the meats and cheese.
- Combine the chopped vegetables, meats and cheese in a large bowl. Add the mayonnaise, olive oil, oregano, basil and red pepper flakes and stir until everything is all mixed up and tasty. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Carve out the center of the bread loaf to make a bowl (don't cut through the bottom) and cut the scraps into bite-size pieces. Serve the hoagie dip in the bread bowl, with the extra bread and hoagie rolls to scoop it up. Yummers!
FANTASTIC PHILLY HOAGIE DIP
Growing up in a suburb outside Philadelphia, you have hoagies..and really great hoagies! Here in Maryland they have subs...they are NOT hoagies! This dip is the closest thing to a real hoagie taste, as long as you serve it with good bread. If you order a hoagie in the philly area you have it with Mayo, oil or oil and vinegar...sometimes all 3 together which tastes great but is a mess to eat on a roll. This dip combines all 3, but you can just use mayo. It's also best after its been chilled for 1-2 hrs or even longer so the flavors really blend. I have seen recipes with tomatoes and lettuce mixed in but it breaks down the dip and it won't keep. So I like to serve it with diced tomatoes, thinly shredded lettuce and hot peppers on the side for people to top as they like. It's great for parties, holidays, sports events, everyone loves it! Purchase your meats and cheeses at your deli counter regular slice (medium). Cook time listed is chill time.

- Dice all the meats and cheeses. Keep them in a stack and just diced them up and sprinkle them through your fingers into a lg bowl to break them up. Then add mayo, oil and vinegar, onion, oregano, salt and pepper. Stir well until completely combined, adding more mayo if needed. Cover and chill for minimum of 1-2 hrs for flavors to develope. Serve with sliced hoagie rolls and the other topping on the side.

Steps:
- Chop the hard salami, ham, provolone tomatoes, lettuce and onions into small bite-size pieces.
- Add the Italian dressing, mayonnaise, garlic powder, oregano, and salt and pepper (to taste) and stir together. Set aside.
- Cut out the center of an artisan style loaf of bread-cubing the reserved bread into pieces to dip (do not cut through to the bottom, make a "bread bowl").
- Pour in hoagie mixture and serve with bread cubes.
HOAGIE DIP
Here is my favorite Hoagie sandwich in dip form! I was so surprised to find this recipe on the Net. I wonder why I didn't think of this? I served this at a barbecue the other day and everyone raved about it. It's not a 'pretty' dip that's for sure.. but it is very good. Serve in a bowl surrounded by slices of Italian bread. Cook time is time to chill.

- 1. Chop meats and cheese in small pieces, add oil/vinegar and mix -- I use my hands as I find it works best for breaking apart the little pieces, but you can use a spoon or fork.

Here's an important tip regarding this dip - the recipe makes a very generous portion. If you think you may have some left over after your party, only add the lettuce and tomato to the part you are going to serve. The tomato and lettuce get soggy and wilty way too quickly, and the next day, your dip will look runny and no one will want to eat it. Add lettuce and tomato only to the part you are serving.
