HEATH BAR BRICKLE OR "CHRISTMAS CRACK"

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 400F
- Line a large cookie sheet with aluminum foil and cover it with a single layer of saltine crackers.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and sugar together. Bring to boil then let cook for 3-5 minutes.
- Pour hot caramel over the saltines and place the pan in the oven for 5-8 minutes until caramel is hot and bubbly.
- Remove pan from oven and immediately cover the top with chocolate chips. Let set for 3-5 minutes so the chocolate begins to melt.
- Use a nonstick spatula to spread the chocolate into a single layer and then top with crushed Heath bars.
- Place pan in freezer for several hours until set.
- Turn pan over and carefully remove the foil. Break the bark into pieces.
- Can be stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator if chocolate gets too soft.

These homemade Heath Bars are sweet, salty, and crunchy. Crispy toffee is layered with creamy milk chocolate and topped with roasted almonds.

- Preheat oven to lowest setting, grease a rimmed baking sheet with cooking spray, and keep warm in the oven.
- In a large stockpot, bring butter, sugar, and salt to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently (almost constantly), until temperature reaches 300 degrees F using a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat and immediately stir in vanilla.
- Quickly and carefully pour the mixture onto warm greased pan.
- Spread the brittle by picking up the pan and tilting it around until it covers the entire pan.
- Let the brittle set until firm, but still warm, this should only take a few minutes.
- Spread the melted chocolate into a thin even layer over the brittle.
- Sprinkle the nuts over the chocolate, and carefully press down to ensure the almonds stick to the chocolate.
- Place the toffee in the freezer until set.
- Break into pieces, and store in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.

Super easy, really good. Buy heath bar pieces by the chocolate chips in the baking aisle.

- Chop up the chocolate and put in microwave safe bowl. Melt 60 seconds, then every 15 seconds, stirring until melted.
- Put wax paper on cookie sheet with edges (I used my 15x21 to make thin). Pour melted chocolate onto cookie sheet and spread thin with the spoon you stirred with. Then sprinkle heath over top. Leave to harden. Tgen break into pieces.
- Put into container, and I store somewhere cold, so it doesn't melt.
- Ok, so I re melted so the heath would get inside the chocolate. It was then 1/2 bag heath chips to the bar of chocolate bark, and 2 big scoops of peanut butter. Oh, oh, yum. I licked the spoon!

- Bake cake mix according to package directions, using a 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan.
- While still hot, punch holes in top of cake with a skewer or large fork.
- Pour sweetened condensed milk and caramel topping over hot cake.
- Let cake cool.
- Spread with whipped topping and sprinkle chopped Heath bars over all.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.

HEATH BAR CANDY
I got this recipe from a friend many years ago and make it every Christmas. People always ask me for the recipe and it's truly a big hit.

Steps:
- 1. Combine first three ingredients and boil, stirring constantly, until it thickens and is the color of a brown paper bag. This will take about 10-12 minutes of constant stirring. The consistency will go through about four stages in looks. Be careful not to overcook or it will taste scorched.
- 2. Pour over a lightly greased 12 x 18 cookie sheet, spreading it as fast as you can into the pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot candy and let melt. Spread the chocolate over the candy.
- 3. It's tricky to get it just the right color. Too light and it doesn't have the toffee consistency and flavor, too dark and it tastes burned. BE CAREFUL HANDLING CANDY WHEN HOT BECAUSE IT IS VERY, VERY HOT!

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl, beat butter well and blend in sugar, egg yolk and vanilla.
- Mix in flour, 2/3 cup HEATH bars and nuts by hand.
- Press into ungreased 10 x 15 inch cookie sheet.
- Bake 18- 20 minutes or until browned.
- Immediately sprinkle remaining HEATH bars evenly over top.
- Cool slighty and cut into bars while still warm.

- Mix sugar, butter, and 1/2 cup nuts in a medium iron skillet and stir constantly over medium-low heat.
- Mixture will become light brown, smell caramelized, and spoon tracks will show as you stir.
- Cook until it reaches the hard crack stage when dropped in cold water (300 degrees on a candy thermometer).
- Pour mixture on a cookie sheet with sides.
- Unwrap Hershey's Bars and place on hot candy - then spread it all over as it melts a bit.
- Sprinkle with remaining pecans. Let cool completely then break into pieces.
- Store covered at room temperature.
