My grandma used to make this and it was always a hit. She uses American cheese, but I make it with mozzarella. Very easy and yummy!

1 pound ground beef
1 (10.75 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes with juice
½ cup long grain white rice
¾ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Crumble the ground beef into a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir until evenly browned. Drain off grease, and stir in the cream of mushroom soup, tomatoes, and uncooked rice. Cover, and simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally, until rice is cooked, about 15 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven's broiler. When the rice is done cooking, transfer the contents of the skillet to a casserole dish. Cover with a layer of cheese.
  • Broil until the cheese is melted and toasty. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and enjoy!

This hamburger gravy recipe is easy to make completely from scratch or incorporate cream of mushroom soup. Serve it over rice, toast, noodles, biscuits, mashed potatoes, and more!

1 lb. ground beef
1 onion
2 cloves garlic
1 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon pepper
3 Tablespoons Flour
1 ½ cups beef broth
1 cube beef bouillon (or 1 tsp better than bouillon)
½ cup half and half
10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup ((10.5 oz.))
1 cup milk
8 oz. white button mushrooms (sliced, rinsed, and patted dry)
1 cup frozen mixed vegetables

Steps:

  • Brown the beef in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onions halfway through and cook until softened, about 4 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  • Add the Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, and flour. Stir to combine and cook for 1-2 minutes, until you can no longer smell flour.
  • Add the beef broth, in small splashes and use a silicone spatula to "clean" the bottom and sides of the skillet. Add the half and half in the same manner, followed by the beef bouillon. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Let it bubble gently, it will continue to thicken and concentrate.
  • Once near your desired level of thickness, serve over mashed potatoes, buttered noodles, or with biscuits.

1 egg, beaten
½ cup panko bread crumbs
¼ cup finely chopped onion
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 (14 ounce) can beef consomme

Steps:

  • Combine ground beef, egg, panko bread crumbs, onion, and 1/4 cup cream of mushroom soup in a large bowl. Divide beef mixture evenly into 6 portions; shape each portion into a 1/2-inch thick patty.
  • Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-heat. Cook the burgers until browned, 3 to 4 minutes on each side. Whisk together the remaining cream of mushroom soup and beef broth in a bowl until smooth. Pour mixture over patties, then reduce heat to low. Simmer until the patties are no longer pink in the center, about 20 minutes.

I was looking for a soup like this, but I had trouble finding a good recipe, so I created this recipe. I received such a good responce I had to publish it.

1 (24 ounce) package , mini portabella mushrooms 1/2 chopped 1/2 sliced
2 lbs hamburger
10 ounces chopped celery
14 ounces grated carrots, not pealed
6 ounces of chopped onions
1 leek, Chopped fine
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon fresh coarse ground black pepper
1 tablespoon thyme
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 tablespoon dry basil
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
2 tablespoons chopped fresh garlic
5 tablespoons butter
1/2-3/4 cup flour
4 cups water, with soup base or 4 cups chicken stock
3 tablespoons chicken base, if not using chicken sock
2 cups heavy cream
2 cups milk

Steps:

  • Add Olive oil and meat to an 8 Qt Pot. Cook that at a medium heat. Once the meat starts to cook then add the spices.
  • When the meat Starts to look mostly cooked, then add the carrots and cook for about 5 minutes.
  • Then add Leeks, Onions, Celery, copped Garlic, copped Mushrooms, Butter Cook that until onions get translucent.
  • ;Then add flour and stir ingrediance until it all gets paisty and thick.
  • Add water and base or chicken stock then milk and cream. stir it all together so soup is incorporated. Making sure to scrape the bottom of the pot so nothing sticks.
  • Then add sliced mushrooms as early as possible.
  • Cook soup off about 30 to 45 mins or until sliced mushrooms become soft and shrink down in size. Be sure to gently keep stiring and scraping the bottom of the pot Until done.

I found this in Better Homes and Gardens Low-Cost Cooking cookbook. I've had the cookbook for about 25 years and only recently discovered this recipe. It's one of those recipes that I make just about anytime because I always have the ingredients on hand and my family (especially my youngest son) loves it!

1 lb ground beef or 1 lb ground pork
1 medium onion, sliced and separated into rings
1 medium green pepper, coarsely chopped (I use frozen green pepper)
1 garlic clove, minced
1 cup medium grain rice
1 (16 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1 1/2 cups water
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • In a skillet coated with spray oil, brown ground beef, onion, green pepper, and garlic until meat is browned. Drain off fat.
  • Add rice; cook stirring constantly, for 2 minutes.
  • Add remaining ingredients (except cheese).
  • Bring to a boil, reduce heat.
  • Cover and simmer for 25 to 30 minutes or until rice is tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove cover, sprinkle with cheese, if desired. (We put the cheese on at the table.).
