HAWAIIAN BREAD HAM & CHEESE ROLLS
Very easy and very yummy appetizer. These can be made ahead of time and ready to pop into the oven minutes before serving. Trust me, these will be gone minutes after you set the plate down! There are similar recipes on the Zaar, but this one has all the yummy buttery goodness on the inside, not the outside, of the roll...so no messy fingers!

Steps:
- Combine softened butter, mustard, grated onion, poppy seeds, and Worcestershire sauce to form a spread.
- Without separating the rolls, slice the rolls horizontally. Spread the butter mixture on both slices -- inside, not outside. Layer the ham and cheese on bottom slices. Top with the top slices.
- Cut into individual rolls but keeping them together. Wrap each package of now cut rolls tightly in foil and refrigerate until ready to bake.
- Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes, or until heated and cheese is melted. Just pop the foil packets into the oven. That easy!
- You can also heat them in a baking dish -- just spray a little Pam or the like on the dish.

Steps:
- With a knife, trim edges of the bread and with a rolling pin, flatten until very thin.
- Spread a thin layer of jam on the top side of the bread slice.
- Arrange a piece of ham over the jam and place cheese strip at the edge of the bread.
- Roll bread into a log to enclose filling and press lightly on seams to completely seal. Secure with toothpicks, if needed, and remove when ready to dredge in bread crumbs.
- Repeat with remaining bread slices.
- In a bowl, combine eggs and milk and whisk together until well-beaten. In a shallow dish, combine bread crumbs and Italian seasoning.
- Dip bread rolls in egg mixture and roll in bread mixture, patting down crumbs to fully coat.
- In a wide, thick-bottomed pan over medium heat, heat about 2-inches deep of oil. Carefully place breaded rolls seam side down and fry, turning on sides as needed, until golden and crunchy.
- Remove from pan and drain on a wire rack set over a baking sheet. Serve hot.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly spray a 9-by-5-by-3-inch metal loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, 3/4 teaspoon dry mustard, kosher salt and cayenne until combined. In a large bowl, whisk together 3/4 cup milk, the oil, 1 tablespoon honey and the eggs until smooth. Stir in the dry ingredients until just combined. Then fold in the ham, 3/4 cup shredded cheese, the diced cheese and scallions.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the top with the remaining 1/4 cup shredded cheese. Bake until well risen, golden brown and a skewer or cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean, 40 to 45 minutes.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, in a small microwave-safe bowl, stir together the remaining 1 tablespoon each honey and milk and the remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard until smooth. Heat in the microwave until hot and bubbling, 20 to 30 seconds. Turn the loaf onto a wire rack and generously brush with the warm glaze. Cool completely.

HOT HAM AND CHEESE ROLLS
I got this recipe from my mom who got it from a breakfast cookbook. There are a few similar recipes on Zaar but none quite the same as this one. Mom makes these occasionally for the Rotary breakfast she serves and I'm always begging for the leftovers (when there are any!) I finally got the recipe from her so I can make them myself!

- In a cup combine warm milk, sugar and dry yeast and stir. Cover and set aside for 10 minutes until the mixture becomes foamy.
- In a large bowl beat the eggs shortly. Add the yeast mixture and the butter and continue beating until almost combined (the butter will probably remain in pieces, which is ok). Add the yogurt and the salt. Gradually add the flour, lowering the speed of the mixer.
- When a soft dough starts to form, start kneading with the dough attachment of the mixer or by hand, until the whole flour is absorbed.
- Make a ball out of the dough, flour it gently and leave it in the bowl. Cover with tea towels and leave in a warm place for 30 minutes to 1 h to raise.
