GRILLED ROASTED RED PEPPER AND HAM SANDWICH RECIPE

This is not your ordinary ham sandwich because we got creative and put together some ingredients to create this show-stopper of a sandwich.

2 tsp or condiment of your choice (optional) mayonnaise
1 slices whole sourdough bread
2 slices provolone cheese
2 thin slices ham slices
½ drained and sliced , packed in oil roasted red pepper
2 tsp butter
2 tsp or Romano cheese , grated Parmesan

Steps:

  • Spread mayonnaise onto one side of each slice of bread.
  • On one slice of bread, place one slice of provolone cheese, then ham, red peppers, and the other slice of cheese.
  • Top with the other slice of bread with the mayonnaise facing the filling.
  • Butter the outsides of the sandwich, and sprinkle a little bit of Parmesan cheese onto the butter.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat until warm.
  • Fry the sandwich on both sides until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  • If you have an indoor grill, this sandwich may be grilled that way also.
  • Cut the sandwich in half, and serve.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup chopped sweet red pepper
2 teaspoons chopped seeded jalapeno pepper
4 slices rye bread with caraway seeds
3/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 tablespoon butter, softened

Steps:

  • In a skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat; saute onion and peppers until tender. Divide between 2 bread slices. Top with cheese and remaining bread. Spread outsides of sandwiches with butter., In a large skillet, toast sandwiches over medium heat until golden brown and cheese is melted, 2-3 minutes per side.

6 slices firm, thinly sliced close-textured bread, such as Pepperidge Farm
3 tablespoons sweet butter, softened
3 thin slices honey-cured ham
1/4 pound sliced Gruyere cheese, white cheddar, or Swiss

Steps:

  • To assemble the sandwiches, butter both sides of each bread slice. Lay ham and cheese on one slice and cover with the another slice. Trim the crusts off the sides.
  • Heat a saute pan over medium-low heat, then fry the sandwiches until the cheese starts to melt and the sandwiches are golden brown, about 3 minutes on each side. You may need to add more butter to the pan.
  • Remove the sandwiches to paper towels to drain, let them cool for 1 minute, then cut into quarters diagonally and serve 3 quarters each per serving.

  • Put butter on one side of each piece of bread.
  • Put ham and cheese (optional onions or peppers) onto the bread then cook like you would grilled cheese. In a pan with butter, or stick on an electric grill.
  • Cook on each side till brown.
  • Open sandwich on side without cheese and add your condiments.
