Number Of Ingredients 10

2 to 3 slices bacon, cut into 2 or 3 pieces each
1/2 medium yellow onion, halved and thinly sliced
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 tablespoons peanut butter
2 slices sourdough bread
1 tablespoon apricot or peach jam
2 ounces grated manchego cheese
1 slice provolone
1 slice Swiss cheese
3 tablespoons mayonnaise

Steps:

  • Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat until hot. Add the bacon to the skillet and cook until not quite crisp, about 2 minutes per side; remove to a plate. Add the onions to the skillet, season with a pinch of salt and pepper and cook until golden, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any fat. Wipe the skillet and place it back on the heat.
  • Begin building the rest of the sandwich: Spread peanut butter on both slices of bread, then spread jam on both slices as well. Place the manchego on one of the slices, then cut the provolone in half and place on top of the manchego. Cut the Swiss cheese in half and place on top of the jam on the other slice. Pile the onions on top of the provolone cheese, followed by the pieces of bacon. Make the sandwich by closing the 2 filled sides of bread together and press slightly to help it all stay together.
  • Spread the top of the sandwich with half the mayonnaise. Place the sandwich into the skillet mayonnaise-side down. Spread the rest of the mayonnaise on the top of the sandwich. Fry until the outsides of the sandwich are golden brown and the cheese in the middle is melted, 3 to 4 minutes each side. Cut in half and serve.

1 small ripe banana
2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter

Steps:

  • Place 2 pieces of white bread in the toaster on a light setting. Heat skillet over medium heat with 2 tablespoons butter. While the bread is toasting, in a small bowl, using a fork mash the ripe banana until it reaches a smooth consistency. Using a knife, take both pieces of the toasted bread and spread 2 tablespoons of creamy peanut butter, topping 1 side with the mashed banana. Place 1 slice of bread on top of the other forming a sandwich. Place sandwich in hot skillet browning each side, flipping with a spatula, about 2 minutes per side. Take out of skillet, slice on a diagonal and serve on a plate.

2 slices white bread or 2 slices potato bread
4 teaspoons soft butter
4 teaspoons peanut butter
3 -4 slices crisp cooked bacon

Steps:

  • Get together your equipment: skillet, metal spatula, saucepan lid (a Revereware saucepan lid is what we've always used, as it's the perfect size).
  • Evenly spread a teaspoon of butter on each side of both pieces of bread.
  • Spread 2 teaspoons of peanut butter on one side of each piece of bread.
  • Place the cooked bacon on one of the pieces of bread, then cover it with the other slice so that the bacon is sandwiched by the peanut butter.
  • Heat up a skillet over medium temperature, and when it is hot place the sandwich in; push the bread down a little with a metal spatula, then cover the whole thing up with the saucepan lid (the idea is to heat the air underneath the lid and warm the peanut butter up as you're also browning the bread).
  • Uncover every minute and check the cooking bread color- you want it golden, not burnt.
  • When it's to the color you like, carefully flip the sandwich over, press down on it with the spatula to squish the bread, peanut butter, and bacon together, and re-cover with the saucepan.
  • After about 3-5 minutes of slow cooking, you'll have a wonderfully golden, melty, gooey grilled peanut butter and bacon sandwich!

I didn't realize until I moved away from home that most people have never heard of a grilled peanut butter sandwich. Made just like grilled cheese sandwiches, they are also warm and gooey and so easy to make it's almost silly!

2 slices bread
3 tablespoons peanut butter
2 tablespoons butter, softened, 2 tablespoons margarine, softened or 3 tablespoons of goats butter, softened

Steps:

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat until hot.
  • Meanwhile, spread the peanut butter on one slice of bread and top it with the other slice of bread. Butter the outsides of the bread, both sides.
  • Lay the sandwich on the hot skillet and let it brown until golden. Flip it over and cook the other side until it is also golden.

Hi Food.com! The title pretty much says it all. This one is for the BACON LOVERS!!! Sounds weird, I know....but for the ones with a little courage, little room to spare in the belt area, and have no problems with cholesterol, I urge you to try it. It's something I came up with while bored and being a fatty. Doubt I invented anything original, but it was pretty good. The peanut butter adds a creamy and familiar flavor that we all love. The jelly adds the sweetness. The bacon adds crunch and saltiness...all of which are lovely together. Tip: Cook bacon until extra crispy. You want it to to break like chips...soft bacon in this sandwhich is not that good....yuck.

1 tablespoon peanut butter
1 tablespoon jelly (any flavor)
3 slices bacon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
  • Place bacon on cookie baking sheet and place in oven.
  • Depending on your oven, bake for 15-20 minutes or until bacon is EXTRA crispy. The bacon needs to break apart like potato chips -- soft bacon does not go well in this recipe.
  • On each side of each piece of white bread, spread peanut butter and jelly. I know I said to use 1 tablespoon each, but the amount is really up to you. Bread and preferences comes in all shapes and sizes, use any amounts at your discretion.
  • Place the 3 slices of warm, crispy bacon in between the sandwich.
  • Optional: Spray a pan with Pam Oil Spray or lightly butter it. Then toast each side of the sandwich for added flavor and crunch.
  • Enjoy in moderation!

Grilled Peanut Butter sandwiches were my staple breakfast fare through my high school years. along with a cup or two of Hot Postum cereal drink. My folks dis-allowed my indulgence in coffee. Postum is still available on the grocer's shelf. Two and at times three sandwiches were sufficient to carry me through to lunch time. Growing boys can eat. The addition of cooked bacon makes it doubly good. Some folks enjoy smearing a little Hellmann's or Miracle Whip on theirs. And -- There is no reason you couldn't add a little jelly or jam. Though I don't. My preference is to serve it on Hearty Rye Bread. Sourdough Bread could be my second choice. For many years this has also been my preference for a late night snack, accompanied by a hot cup of Chocolate Malt Ovaltine. Soothing on the tummy and the nerves. Is it Bed Time yet?

2 slice(s) bread of choice (rye is my peference)
- generous portion of peanut butter (smooth is my preference)
2 - pats of butter divided
2 to 3 - cooked bacon strips
- a smathering of hellmann's or miracle whip (optional)
- your favorite jelly or jam (optional)
ACCOMPANIMENTS
- the tartest most puckering dill pickle in the fridge
- celery sticks
- use your imagination

Steps:

  • Heat frying pan to medium low heat, add one pat butter. You want the Peanut Butter to warm through as the bread toasts.
  • Prepare sandwich by spreading an ample amount of Peanut Butter on one of the bread slices. Add the cooked Bacon Strips if desired.
  • Put sandwich together and butter the top of sandwich. Place in pan buttered side up. Move sandwich to butter and toast evenly.
  • Flip sandwich and toast other side, again move around some,reduce heat if it is toasting too fast.
  • Plate up. Cut in half. Grab you accompaniments -- And Enjoy, along with your favorite hot beverage.
