Gourmet Chili Dogs Food

CHILI DOGS

Steps:

• Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add 1 chopped onion and 2 chopped garlic cloves and cook, stirring, until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add 1 pound ground beef, breaking it up with the back of a spoon, and cook until nicely browned, about 10 minutes.
• Stir in 2 1/2 cups ketchup, 1 teaspoon chili powder and 2 tablespoons yellow mustard and simmer until thickened, about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
• Grill 4 hot dogs over medium-high heat, turning, until marked. Serve on grilled buns and top with the chili and shredded cheddar.

GOURMET CHILI DOGS

Steps:

• In a large pot or dutch oven, heat the oil over medium-high. Add the onions and garlic; saute 3 minutes. Add the crushed red pepper, cumin, chili powder, paprika, ground coriander and Mexican oregano. Bloom the spices for 1 minute.
• Add the ground beef, salt and pepper; cook until browned all over, 4 minutes.
• Add the red wine and cook 1 minute.
• Add the tomatoes, beans, green chiles, brown sugar, honey, vinegar, broth or water and adjust seasonings with salt and pepper. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover and simmer about an hour, stirring occasionally. Remove cover and cook until thickened.
• Heat grill to medium-high. Grill the sausages until plump and slightly charred all over, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and cut into 6 links.
• Grill rolls or baguettes until toasty. Place a dog on the bottom half, top with chili. Garnish with cheese, cilantro, red onion.

CHIPOTLE CHILI CHEESE DOGS

Steps:

• Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until slightly crisp, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the onion, chili powder and cumin and cook until the onion is soft, about 3 minutes. Stir in the ketchup and cook until it is slightly browned, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the beans, tomatoes, hot sauce and 1 cup water, cover and bring to a boil. Uncover and cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens, about 20 minutes.
• Meanwhile, preheat a grill to medium and brush with vegetable oil. Grill the hot dogs until marked, turning, about 10 minutes. Toast the rolls on the grill, if desired.
• Sprinkle the inside of each roll with cheese, then add a hot dog, some of the bean mixture and more cheese. Top with scallions, sour cream and/or hot sauce, if desired.

SWEET CHILLI DOGS

Steps:

• Heat oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 7. Spread the sausages in a roasting tin and cook for 20-25 mins, turning, until golden and cooked through.
• Meanwhile, fry the onions in a splash of oil over a high heat until almost softened and browning. Stir in the sweet chilli sauce and tomato purée with some seasoning, and cook for 1 min more.
• Split the hot dog buns, add a spoonful of the sweet chilli onions, top with a sausage, then a spoonful more onions.
