Brazil's favorite drink, the caipirinha, is made a little sweeter here with the addition of strawberry and kiwi instead of lime - 'Caipirinha de morango com kiwi' in Portuguese. A refreshingly addictive cocktail!

4 fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
½ kiwi, chopped
1 ½ tablespoons white sugar
ice cubes
1 ¾ fluid ounces cachaca

Steps:

Place strawberries, kiwi, and sugar into a glass; mash well with a cocktail muddler. Fill the glass with ice cubes. Pour in cachaca; stir.

1 teaspoon white sugar
2 ½ fluid ounces cachaca
1 cup ice cubes

Steps:

In a large rocks glass squeeze and drop in 2 eighths of lime. Add sugar, crush and mix with a spoon. Pour in the cachaca and plenty of ice. Stir well.

This Kiwi Caipirinha Cocktail is made with ripe, juicy California kiwifruit and limes, honey and cachaça-Brazil's most popular sugarcane liquor. Delicious and refreshing- perfect for summer!

Ingredients

1 ripe California kiwifruit, peeled and quartered, plus a few more slices for garnish
1/2 California lime, quartered
1-2 teaspoons California honey (depending on how sweet you like your cocktails)
2 ounces Cachaça
ice

Steps:

Muddle the fruit. Combine kiwi, lime, and honey in a cocktail shaker and muddle until everything is well crushed with a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon.
Shake. Fill the shaker 2/3 of the way full with ice. Add the cachaça and give a good hard shake until the outside of the shaker is cold and beaded with water, about 20 seconds.
Serve. Pour into a rocks glass, garnish with a kiwi slice or two and serve.

1/2 lime, large cut into 4 pieces
2 teaspoons sugar
1/3 kiwi fruit, peeled and cut into 6 chunks
2 ounces cachaca
1 slice kiwi fruit

Steps:

In cocktail shaker, combine the lime pieces and sugar and press with a muddler, to release the juice. Add the kiwifruit and and press with muddler to crush. Fill the shaker with ice. Measure in the cachaca. Cap and shake vigorously. Pour into and old-fashioned glass. Garnish with a slice of kiwifruit.
