Homemade creamy and extra thick hot chocolate with perfect decadent double chocolate flavor.

2 ½ cups milk (or half and half, (I like to use fat free half and half))
¼ cup sugar
⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
½ cup heavy cream
½ cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Combine milk and sugar in a medium sauce pan. Stir over medium-high heat until sugar is dissolved. Stir in cocoa powder. Reduce heat to medium.
  • Stir in heavy cream and chocolate chips. Continue to stir slowly until chocolate is completely melted and incorporated. Stir in vanilla.
  • Top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or any other favorite toppings and serve.

Thick and decadent hot chocolate made with three ingredients and in five minutes. Absolutely delicious!

3 cups whole milk
1 heaped tbsp cornstarch
1 cup 55-60% chocolate disks or coarsley chopped (150 g)

Steps:

  • Bring the milk to a boil in a medium saucepan set over medium high heat.
  • Reduce the heat to medium. Add the cornstarch, and whisk to combine. Let it boil for 30 seconds-1 minute.
  • Add the chocolate and whisk until chocolate has melted and completely combined. Let it boil a further 30 seconds or until hot chocolate has thickened into desired consistency.
  • Pour hot chocolate evenly into four cups and top as desired. Enjoy warm!

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, combine the milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla and warm up over a low heat.
  • Combine the cocoa powder, sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon in another bowl. Whisk the cocoa mixture into the warm milk mixture. Whisk the mixture frequently to prevent it from scorching.
  • Remove the mixture from the heat just after it has come to a boil. The mixture should be suuuuuper rich and thick!
  • Cook's Note: For grown-up kids: A shot of brandy, kahlua, or peppermint schnapps is really yummy!

150 g dark chocolate
1 cup cream
2 cups milk
2 teaspoons Dutch-processed cocoa powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon cornflour
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
whiped cream (optional)

Steps:

  • Chop chocolate and melt over hot water.
  • In another pan bring cream and all but 1/4 cup of milk to scalding point. Stir half scalded mixture into melted chocolate and mix well, then pour back into the saucepan and set over low heat. Mix in the reserved 1/4 cup milk with the cocoa, sugar and cornflour to make a smooth paste. Stir into the chocolate mixture and whisk or stir constantly until it comes to the boil and thickens slightly.
  • Add vanilla, if desired and beat briskly with wire beater or hand rotary beater until mixture is foamy.
  • Pour into cups and serve immediately topped with whipped cream.

  • Bring milk, cocoa powder and sugar to simmer in heavy large saucepan over medium-high heat, whisking frequently.
