- Cucumber Sandwiches. This is probably one of the first things to come to mind when you think of a tea party, right? Those cute little sandwiches with the crusts cut off are in almost every picture when you look online.
- Basic Scone Recipe (+ 7 Flavors!) You can’t have a tea party without scones, and if you’re making scones, they really should be the best they can be!
- Petit Fours. Petit fours are bite-sized cakes that look stunning on a fancy cake stand. They can be any flavor you like, but I think a vanilla or almond sponge is best as it allows for better coverage with a light glaze.
- Mini-Quiche (Any Flavor!) Just like the bite-sized cakes above, these mini-quiches will look adorable on a tea party cake stand. I know how finicky pastry can be, especially when working in smaller portions.
- Easy Ham & Cheese Tea Sandwiches. Don’t these just look fantastic? It’s incredible how a simple cookie cutter can elevate your sandwich game! A great way to cut down on waste is to buy an uncut, white loaf of bread.
- Blackberry Jam Recipe. No tea party table is complete without a selection of butter, jams, and tasty spreads. Whether you’re adding them to your scones (with clotted cream, please!)
- Crinkle Top Brownie Bites. This might not be the most traditional, but I guarantee it will be the most popular! Who doesn’t love brownies?! Since these are made to be bite-sized, they’ll only need around 12-15 minutes in the oven.
- The Perfect Cup of Tea-British Style. The Brits love their tea strong and milky. No, not like a latte (that’s sacrilege!) , but with enough milk so you can taste it and no lemon in sight.
- Mini-Lemon Meringue Pies. I can’t overstate this: this recipe is genius! It’s such a clever little hack for making what can be quite a complicated recipe.
- Fruit Tarts. Just like you can buy mini-pastry shells for quiche, you can also buy sweetened crusts that work so well for these little fruit tarts. Although, sugar cookie shells are extra tasty, and if you use ready-made cookie dough, they’re a cinch to whip up.

- Prepare each sandwich filling by adding all the ingredients to separate bowls. (3 total) Mix each using a silicone spatula. (they work best!) Keep in mind that using room temperature butter and cream cheese will make mixing much easier!
- Once your 3 fillings are ready, set out your bread slices and start spreading your filling generously onto each side of your bread.
- *Note* I used a TOTAL of 18 slices of bread. I laid out 6 slices for EACH filling. This gave me 3 large sandwiches with EACH filling. (Total of 9.) I then cut each of the 9 finished sandwiches into TWO triangles giving me a total of 18 tea sandwiches triangles to serve or 6 each. If you want to QUARTER your tea sandwiches you can. You should then get twice the amount (36 total).
- Trim the ends of your cucumbers and then cut each into thirds (or half) depending how long your cucumbers are. (The idea is to cut them lengthwise first before you start slicing them down. We want about 4" chunks so that when we slice them, they fit nicely onto your bread. (See photos). Finally, you can slice each chunk into slices about 1/16" thick. Your yield will differ than mine depending upon the size of your cucumbers. Aim for about 4-5 slices per sandwich! (See photos for reference!)

- Colorful balloons. Balloons are essential for any kiddie party. First, decide a color scheme for the party, and based on it, select the colors for the balloon.
- Hanging banner. How are your child’s little friends supposed to know which party they have come to? Well, you can let your tiny guests know which party they have come to by hanging a big banner over the venue entrance.
- Canopy. If the party is to be held outdoors, you can build a nice canopy with drapes and curtains. Under it, you can place a table full of sweet treats.
- Cute table. Place a small vase with paper or tissue flowers on each table. Or you can shape the cloth towels in an interesting shape and place them on the tables in front of each chair.
- Teapot for the center display. Since it is a tea party, you can place a big teapot or a cup and saucer on the center table for display. This teapot can have a tiny tap from which kids can drink some fruit juice.
- Tea. A tea party would be incomplete without some tea, right? Well, for a kids’ tea party, you do not have to serve tea that adults usually drink. Instead, you can give them what they like to drink, such as some hot chocolate or cold milkshake or even just plain milk that they would enjoy sipping on.
- Sandwiches. Sandwiches are easy to make, and kids like them too. Avoid the regular sandwich stuffed with arugula or lettuce for a kids’ party. Instead, go for a peanut butter sandwich, jelly sandwich, or turkey sandwich.
- Mini cakes. A kids’ party would be incomplete without delicious cakes. Don’t let them down, and prepare some impressive tiny cakes for the kids. It can be cupcakes or mini brownies.
- Cookies. If you are serving milk, bake some cookies to go with it. You can experiment by having cookies in interesting shapes, like that of a teddy bear or Mickey Mouse.
- Macarons. At the center of the table, place a three-tiered stand filled with different macarons that kids can grab and eat whenever they feel like. Or you can fill one level with macarons, and the other two with other sweetmeats.
