Drown your cinnamon rolls with as much icing as you'd like with this Instant Pot recipe. The icing and the filling are both whipped together with only 5 ingredients and the dough is very forgiving, making this an easy recipe for even the most hopeless baker.

2 cups water
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted divided
⅓ cup dark brown sugar
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
⅛ teaspoon kosher salt
¾ cup powdered sugar
4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons whole milk

Steps:

  • Grease a 7-inch (17 cm) springform pan with non stick cooking spray. Cut a 7-inch (17 cm) round of parchment paper to fit over the pan and set aside.
  • Make the dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the milk and melted butter and mix with a rubber spatula until a rough dough forms.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead until stiff, about 3 minutes. Roll the dough out to a 9 x 12-inch (22 x 30 cm) rectangle.
  • Make the filling: Brush the dough with 1 tablespoon of melted butter.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar filling over the dough and press into the melted butter.
  • Starting from a long end, roll up the dough, forming a log, and pinch the seam closed. Place seam-side down. Cut into 8 equal pieces, each about 1½ inches (3 cm) wide.
  • Place the rolls, cut-side up, in the prepared pan and brush the tops with the remaining tablespoon of melted butter. Place the parchment round on top and wrap the entire pan tightly with foil.
  • Place the trivet inside the Instant Pot and pour in the water. Lower the pan with the cinnamon rolls into the Instant Pot, close, and set to manual high pressure. Set the timer for 25 minutes. When the 25 minutes has elapsed, allow the Instant Pot to naturally release the pressure for 15 minutes, then manually release the remaining steam.
  • Meanwhile, make the icing: Add the powdered sugar, cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and milk to a large bowl. Beat with an electric hand mixer until fully combined and smooth, about 2 minutes.
  • Carefully remove the pan with the cinnamon rolls from the Instant Pot. Unwrap the pan, release the springform, and transfer the rolls to a serving platter.
  • Spread the icing all over the top of the cinnamon rolls and serve warm.

½ teaspoon vanilla
1 Tablespoon milk
2 cups powdered sugar

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon together. Pour melted butter into a separate small bowl.
  • Separate biscuits and dip into melted butter, then into brown sugar mixture coating both sides.
  • Place into a greased slow cooker. Have biscuits overlap so they all fit into crock pot. Cover and cook on high for 1.5 hours. Check to see if they are cooked through.
  • Put on a plate and drizzle with favorite glaze or frosting.
  • Mix all ingredients together well. Add more milk if needed to get to desired consistency.

Slow Cooker Cinnamon Rolls are the easiest way to make buttery, cinnamon sugar breakfast rolls. Get gooey, delicious homemade rolls in half the time!

1 cups whole milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter (, room temperature)
3 cups flour (, divided)
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 packet instant rapid rise yeast
1 large egg yolk
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup unsalted butter (, room temperature)
1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 Tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan heat the milk and butter to 110 degrees (warm to touch).
  • Into your stand mixer add the yeast and milk and whisk and let sit for one minute.
  • Add the flour, sugar, salt and egg to the stand mixer.
  • Attach the dough hook and turn the mixer on speed 3-4 (low to medium).
  • Let it go for 5-7 minutes, you want the dough to become a ball that doesn't stick to the walls of the bowl.
  • If you find sticking add flour 1/4 cup at a time until it pulls away (no more than another cup).
  • Take the dough out, grease the stand mixer bowl and put it back in.
  • Cover the dough with your dish towel you used to keep the flour in the stand mixer.
  • In a medium sized bowl mix the sugar and cinnamon.
  • Using a large even surface, add more flour and roll it out onto the surface to coat the rolling pin and the surface.
  • Roll out the dough into a large rectangle about a 1/2 inch thick (if your space is limited do this in two halves).
  • Spread the butter over the dough (I use my hands) and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the butter.
  • Roll the dough tightly to form a long log and using a piece of thread slice off even pieces.
  • Line your slow cooker with parchment paper or spray with baking spray, then place the cinnamon rolls inside.
  • Place a paper towel right under the lid of the slow cooker.
  • Turn your slow cooker on high speed and cook for 2 hours, or until the rolls are fully cooked through.
  • Once done, remove the rolls from the cooker right away by lifting out the parchment paper.

4 eggs
1/2 c milk
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
3 Tbsp maple syrup

Steps:

  • 1. Open cinnamon roll cans, reserve icing packets. Cut each roll in 1/4's. I insert Crock Pot cooking bag into pot. Spray bag or pot with Pam. (You don't need to use a bag, it just makes clean up easier) Set rolls into crock pot.
  • 2. Whisk together: eggs, milk, syrup, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over rolls. Drizzle one (1) icing packet over top.
  • 3. Place lid on crock pot. Cook for 2-3 hours on low. When done, remove lid and sprinkle 2nd icing packet over.

  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, then knead for 1 minute. Let the dough rest for about 10 minutes. During this 10 minutes, line a 4 or 5 quart slow cooker with greased parchment paper. (I spray it with non-stick spray, but brushing oil or softened butter all over it works too.) If you have a larger slow cooker, that’s ok– just space the rolls out more.
  • After 10 minutes, roll the dough out in a 14×8 inch rectangle. Spread the softened butter on top. Mix the cinnamon and sugar together, then sprinkle on top of the butter. Roll the dough up tightly, then cut into 10-12 even pieces and place them inside the lined slow cooker. Place a paper towel right under the lid of the slow cooker– this will help keep condensation off of the cooking rolls. Do not leave that step out and do not use a cloth towel.
  • Turn your slow cooker on high speed and cook for 2 hours, or until the rolls are fully cooked through. It’s usually 2 hours, sometimes 2 hours and 15 minutes. Once they’re done, remove the rolls from the cooker right away by lifting out the parchment paper.
