PERFECT CUT-OUT COOKIE DOUGH

Perfect Cut-Out Cookie Dough image

This recipe always comes out perfect. My toddlers and I make these often. I throw the dough together in the morning and let it sit in the fridge. I take it out at dinner time to let it warm just a bit, and we roll them out and ice them after for dessert. You use different flavors of extract and add spices. For fall, I use maple extract and add cinnamon and nutmeg. I use my mixer to prepare dough and it comes together super easy.

EASY COOKIE CUTTER DOUGH

Easy Cookie Cutter Dough image

I needed an easy cookie cutter recipe in a hurry and I found this brilliant recipe online here http://planningwithkids.com/2010/05/01/easy-cookie-cutter-recipe/ *Original recipe says to use self raising flour but I didnt have any so added extra baking powder & salt. I want to use my own photos to show exactly how easy this is,...

Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 1/4 c flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 c caster sugar
150 g butter
2 eggs
2 Tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 180C Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl
  • 2. Cream butter, sugar and vanilla in a separate bowl
  • 3. Add one egg to butter mixture and mix until completely combined, then add other egg and repeat, lastly add milk and mix well.
  • 4. Add butter mixture to the flour and mix until it starts to come together then using hands, mix dough into a ball
  • 5. Cut dough into 3 parts and roll each part out flat, between 2 sheets of baking paper. Layer all 3 sheets into a baking dish and refrigerate for 30 minutes to an hour. I found this a little hard because my baking paper was so slippery and it was hard to roll, next time I might try cling wrap instead.
  • 6. Remove sheets from fridge and use cookie cutters to cut out shapes. TIP: Spray cookie cutters with cooking spray or grease the edges (not too much). This makes it easier to pop the dough out from the cookie cutter.
  • 7. Bake for 8 minutes or until golden. Roll out remaining dough and repeat until finished.
  • 8. I got a whole lot of cookies out of this recipe. The star shaped cookie cutter I used was about 3 inches, so all together I was able to make about 30 cookies. I love this recipe, not bad for my first attempt and I think it will get easier the more I make it but Im very grateful to the lady who posted the original recipe.

THE BEST ROLLED SUGAR COOKIES

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies image

Whenever you make these cookies for someone, be sure to bring along several copies of the recipe! You will be asked for it, I promise! NOTE: I make icing with confectioners' sugar and milk. I make it fairly thin, as I 'paint' the icing on the cookies with a pastry brush. Thin enough to spread easily but not so thin that it just makes your cookies wet and runs off.
