CHEESE BALL WITH DICED HAM

Cheese Ball with Diced Ham image

Cream cheese ham ball smothered in pecan pieces, an easy WOW appetizer that uses up left over diced ham for one of the easiest cheese ball recipes EVER! Cheeseballs are really simple to make with softened bricks of cream cheese making the base of the ball. Combining all the cream cheese, regular cheese, ham and seasonings, the cheeseball is shaped and then totally smothered with nuts. All you need now is a cracker to dip right into the cream cheese, a beautiful cheese ball display with amazing taste and texture. Cheeseballs are commonly used at parties and make great well known and popular appetizers. While there really are a lot of cheeseball flavors from cheddar to chocolate chip, there is nothing more comforting than seasonal ham and cheese. Cheeseball recipes are nearly perfect as a holiday appetizer.

HAM AND CHEDDAR CHEESE BALL

Ham And Cheddar Cheese Ball image

This Classic Cheese Ball Recipe is a Ham and Cheddar Cheese Ball Recipe. It's made with cream cheese, green onions, ham and is a classic Holiday Cheese Ball. It's perfect for the holidays or any gather, an easy make ahead, no-bake appetizer.

Provided by Jill Baird

Categories     Appetizer

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 Pkg Cream Cheese ((8 oz each))
1 Cup Diced Deli Ham ((can also use leftover holiday ham))
1 Cup Cheddar Cheese ((shredded))
1/2 tsp Garlic Salt
1/2 tsp Onion Powder
1/3 Cup Green Onions ((sliced thinly))
3/4 Cup Chopped Pecans ((toasted))

Steps:

  • Set your cream cheese out for about an hour before you mix this cheese ball together. It is much easier to make this recipe if your cream cheese is soft.
  • Place cream cheese, ham, cheddar cheese, garlic salt, onion powder, green onions in a mixing bowl. (I like to add mine to my kitchen aide and mix with the paddle, It makes this recipe so easy!)
  • Beat together until ingredients are mixed.
  • Using a spatula, shape into a round ball. (You can use your hands if you'd like but the rubber spatula works almost just as well and you don't have to get your hands dirty.)
  • Toast the nuts in a pan on medium heat on the stovetop. Roll in toasted pecans until evenly covered.
  • Cover with plastic wrap until needed. When you're ready to serve it, lay on a platter with your favorite buttery crackers and veggies. Enjoy!

HOLIDAY HAM & CHEESE BALL

Holiday Ham & Cheese Ball image

My mother always makes this cheese ball at Christmas, and growing up, I never realized there was any other kind of "cheese ball" but this one. I now make it for get togethers, holidays, or sometimes just because it's so good! There is never any left overs, and everyone always wants the recipe. This recipe makes 1 large ball or 2 small balls. *Note: My mother puts 1 tsp of Accent (MSG) in hers. I never buy this stuff, so I leave it out, and I can't tell a difference.

Time 20m

Yield 1 large ball, 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 lb lean ham, thinly sliced
1 bunch green onion
1 -2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Place the cream cheese in a large, covered bowl and allow to soften at room temperature while preparing the other ingredients.
  • Lay several pieces of ham on a cutting board and slice into 1/2" strips. Turn the cutting board and slice again, forming small squares. Set aside in a medium bowl or on a plate and separate the squares. Repeat with the rest of the ham.
  • Slice the bunch of green onions into very thin rings.
  • When the cheese is softened, add in the Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, green onions (add all or just enough for your preference), and 1/2 of the ham. Mix together well until ingredients are uniformly distributed.
  • Using a large piece of plastic wrap, shape the cream cheese mixture into a ball. Roll the ball in the remaining ham pieces (faster) or manually press the ham squares into the cheese ball (prettier). Place on a plate and wrap in plastic wrap. Allow to chill for a few hours or overnight before serving. Serve with crackers, vegetables or crusty bread.
