Perfect for a summer cookout or potluck, this shredded beef barbecue recipe is made easily in the crockpot!

2 - 3 Tbsp packed light brown sugar
2 1/2 tsp paprika
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp black pepper
4 lb beef chuck roast
2 Tbsp yellow mustard
2/3 cup beef broth
1 tsp liquid smoke ((optional))
3 - 4 Tbsp unsalted butter ((sliced))
1 large yellow onion, finely minced
4 cloves garlic, minced
3 Tbsp butter
1 tsp olive oil
salt and pepper, to taste
20 - 24 oz bottle of ketchup
1/3 - 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 - 3 Tbsp molasses
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Combine brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Set aside. Add chuck roast to slow cooker, drizzle with mustard and rub into the meat.
  • Sprinkle with half of the rub. Rub into the meat, flip the roast over and rub the remaining rub into the meat. Pour in beef broth and liquid smoke (if using), being careful to pour it around the roast, not over it. You don't want to wash away that rub and mustard! Top with butter slices. Cover and cook on LOW for 8-10 hours, or until roast is fork tender.
  • Remove roast from slow cooker to a large cutting board and shred, discarding large fat pieces. Drain cooking juices from the slow cooker and return shredded beef to the slow cooker.

1 tomato, chopped
1/2 cup KRAFT Original Barbecue Sauce

Steps:

  • Place steak in slow cooker; top with next 3 ingredients. Pour combined barbecue sauce and seasoning over ingredients in slow cooker. Cover with lid.
  • Cook on LOW 8 to 10 hours (or on HIGH 5 hours). Remove steak from slow cooker; shred with fork. (Or, cut across the grain into thin strips.) Return meat to slow cooker; stir to coat with sauce.

1 (1 1/4 pound) flank steak, cut into 8 pieces
2 tablespoons avocado oil
1 (8 ounce) package cremini mushrooms, roughly chopped
1 onion, finely chopped
2 large cloves garlic, grated
1 teaspoon dried thyme
¼ cup dry red wine
1 ½ cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
¾ teaspoon salt, or to taste
freshly ground black pepper to taste
¼ cup water
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Turn on a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®) and select Saute function. Saute steak, working in batches, until brown, 3 to 5 minutes per side. Set aside on a plate.
  • Heat avocado oil in the pot. Saute mushrooms and onion until onion is translucent, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and thyme; saute until fragrant, about 1 minute. Pour in wine; cook and stir until almost evaporated, about 2 minutes. Add broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  • Add the beef to the broth mixture and turn to coat. Select the Meat option according to manufacturer's instructions. Close and lock the lid; set timer for 20 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.

1-1/2 cups ketchup
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Cut roast in half and place in a 3- or 4-qt. slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, liquid smoke if desired and seasonings. 1 green bell pepper, de-seeded, cut into long strips
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 onion, coarsely chopped

I have not tried it with pork but was told that it was just as good as the beef. You can adjust the amount of chili powder and brown sugar depending on how spicy or sweet you like it. 3 large onions (i like sweet ones) cut into nice pieces
1/2 cup(s) water, cold
1 bottle(s) sweet baby rays bbq sauce (or your favorite)
3 clove(s) garlic (chopped, fresh or pre-chopped)

Steps:

  • pour water into crock pot add bbq sauce and stir to blend
  • rough chop onions into nice pieces..they will shrink during the cooking process (I used 3 large..next time i might add 1 more we love onions) add onions to mixture in crock pot
  • chop 3 fresh cloves of garlic or use 3 table spoons of pre chopped garlic and add to crockpot
  • add your flank steak to the pot and make sure the steak is covered by the bbq sauce/water mixture (you can add alittle more water if needed)
  • cook for 8 hrs on low stir..this will help the flank steak shred
  • I served ours over mashed potatoes and served with fresh green beans..for left overs I toasted some onion rolls with a little butter in the oven and made shredded bbq beef sandwiches
