All you need is four ingredients and a slow cooker to make an incredibly moist and meltingly tender crockpot whole chicken that's way better than the store-bought version.

Steps:
- Spray 5-quart oval slow cooker with cooking spray.
- In small bowl, stir together brown sugar, chili powder and salt.
- Pat chicken dry, both inside and outside, with paper towels. Rub chicken all over with brown sugar mixture.
- Place chicken, breast-side up, in slow cooker.
- Cover; cook on High heat setting 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours or until legs move easily when lifted or twisted and thermometer inserted in thickest part of inside thigh reads at least 165°F. Remove chicken from slow cooker; let stand 10 minutes before serving.

- Spray the crock of your slow cooker with cooking spray. Spread hash brown potatoes into the bottom of the crock.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir sausage in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease. Spread sausage over the hash brown potatoes; top with Cheddar cheese.
- Beat eggs and milk together in a large bowl; add ground mustard and generously season with salt and pepper. Mix seasonings thoroughly into the egg mixture; pour over the cheese layer in the slow cooker.
- Cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours.

HOW TO COOK AN OLD ROOSTER (OR HEN!)

- Cover the bird loosely (I used wax paper to allow the carcass to breathe-avoid plastic wrap) and place in the fridge to age for 4-7 days. This is a crucial step for an old bird, as the extended aging process allows the muscle fibers to relax and tenderize. Don't skip it!
- After the aging process, place the bird in a large stock pot and cover it with water. Season if you like (I tossed in some salt, pepper, rosemary, parsley, and an onion for good measure) and cover. Simmer for 6-12 hours.
- Remove the bird from the pot and allow it to cool so you can handle it comfortably. Remove all of the meat from the bones.
- At this point, you can set the bones aside (we'll be using them to make chicken stock), and toss the meat back into the broth to make chicken soup. (Just add the vegetables of your choice, noodles, and seasonings to taste, removing the bay leaves before you serve it. I don't have an *exact* chicken soup recipe, since it's different every time I serve it.

- Place chicken in the bottom of a slow cooker. Add the garlic, onion, tomatoes, peaches, garbanzo beans, dried apricots, cumin, ginger, cinnamon, coriander, and cayenne pepper. Pour in the chicken broth. Cook on Low for 5 hours.
- Remove the chicken and keep warm. Mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl. Stir the cornstarch mixture into the slow cooker. Cook on High until the sauce has thickened, about 15 minutes.
