CREAMY MUSHROOM BOW TIES

Creamy Mushroom Bow Ties image

"This pasta dish has become one of our favorites," reports Dodi Walker of Peachtree City, Georgia. "It is so easy! But it tastes like it took much longer in the kitchen than it does. Some of our friends don't eat red meat, so I sometimes serve this as a meatless main dish. It's wonderful with a salad and a loaf of French bread."

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream image

A friend gave this recipe to me a few years back, and my family can't seem to get enough of it. It sounds strange with cream in it, but that just enhances the flavor and texture. This is a very easy recipe.

  • Boil pasta water and cook according to package instructions (I always cook bow ties 1-2 minutes longer than what the box says because they are never fully cooked in the middle).
  • While pasta is cooking, sauté garlic and leeks in a large saucepan over medium/high heat in the olive oil. Once the leeks start to cook down (usually 1-2 minutes) add in the diced mushrooms.
  • When the pasta finishes cooking, do not drain. Use a slotted spoon and scoop out pasta right into the large saucepan with vegetables. Do this until all of the pasta is in the saucepan. Pour pasta water down the drain.
