Creamy Italian Sausage Pasta is an easy 30-minute recipe made entirely in one pan! The creamy pasta dish features Italian sausage, bow-tie pasta, tomato pasta sauce, and bell peppers. It's a perfect weeknight dinner to make for your family, kids, and friends!

1 tablespoon olive oil
15 oz Italian sausage
2 bell peppers (diced (red and green), medium size)
8 oz pasta (bow-tie, uncooked)
14 oz tomato pasta sauce (or marinara sauce)
16 oz chicken broth (or water)
4 cloves garlic (minced)
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
⅓ cup heavy cream
⅓ cup Parmesan cheese (freshly finely shredded)

Steps:

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and cook for about 5 minutes. Drain off fat.
  • To the same skillet with sausage, add diced bell peppers, uncooked pasta, marinara sauce (tomato pasta sauce), chicken broth (or water), minced garlic, and Italian seasoning.
  • Bring to boil, mix everything well; reduce heat to simmer. Make sure the pasta is submerged. Simmer, covered, for about 15 minutes until the pasta is tender, occasionally stirring.
  • Add heavy cream, sprinkle with cheese, and mix everything well. Remove from heat, cover, and let it sit for about 3 minutes or until the cheese melts.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound sweet Italian sausage, removed from casing
1 medium onion, diced
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
Pinch red pepper flakes
2 cloves garlic, minced
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
One 28-ounce can tomato puree
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 pound fusilli pasta (or other pasta shape)
1 cup shredded mozzarella
1/4 cup mascarpone
Shaved Parmesan, for serving
10 to 12 fresh basil leaves, torn, for serving

Steps:

  • Heat the olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. When the oil is hot, add the sausage and cook until it starts to brown, about 5 minutes. Add the onions and cook until softened and translucent and the sausage is well browned, another 5 to 7 minutes. Add the oregano, fennel seeds, red pepper flakes, garlic and some salt and black pepper and stir again.
  • Next, add the broth, tomato puree and tomato paste and stir well. Add the uncooked pasta into the sauce, bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente, 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the mozzarella and mascarpone. Taste and add more seasoning if necessary. Serve with shaved Parmesan and torn basil leaves.

This is another fantastic one pot meal that's very simple to make. This cooking technique can be used with a multitude of other ingredients and combinations including sun dried tomato, mushrooms, peppers, broccoli, olives, chicken, small meatballs, and many more.

1/2 cup olive oil
1 large garlic clove, minced
6 mild Italian sausage
32 ounces chicken broth
1 lb penne pasta
1 pinch of tuscany seasoning
1/4 cup graded parmigiana cheese
8 ox. package cream cheese (optional)

Steps:

  • Sauté garlic in a large frying pan with high sides in the olive oil until tanned. Discard.
  • Cook sausages until just cooked through. Remove sausages to a cutting board. When cooled, slice each retaining their juice.
  • Add the pasta and most of the chicken broth to the pan. Bring it to a boil. Add additional broth or water until absorbed and pasta is cooked al dente.
  • Add the sliced sausages and their juices, Tuscany seasoning and the parmigiana cheese into the hot pan until incorporated.
  • Optional, for a creamy sauce, add cream cheese to desired consistency while the pasta and pan are still hot.
