CREAMY ITALIAN PASTA SALAD
If you like simple pasta salads you should try this. I love this in the summer but you could have this any time. I didn't see any other recipes like this that used both dressings so I thought I'd share mine. They really do go well together. This is pretty versatile and you can add any veggies that you'd like.

Steps:
- Cook pasta as directed, rinse with cold water and drain well.
- In a large bowl, combine rest of ingredients and toss to coat.
- Add pasta and toss to coat.
- Chill at least 2 hours before serving.
- *** If pasta "absorbs" the dressing, you may need to add a little more dressing after chill time before serving.

- For the dressing: In a blender, add the olive oil, mayonnaise, Parmesan, parsley, sugar, vinegar, black pepper, salt, red pepper flakes, garlic and lemon juice and blend until pureed.
- For the salad: Put the romaine and iceberg greens in a large bowl and toss with the dressing. Top the salad with the pepperoncini, olives, tomatoes and onions. Sprinkle with Parmesan at the end.

- For the dressing: Mince the garlic with a knife and then sprinkle about 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of salt on it and mash it into a paste with a fork. Chop the parsley, chives and basil very finely and add to the garlic.
- In a bowl, combine the garlic mixture, mayonnaise, sour cream, Parmesan, cayenne, paprika and Worcestershire, tasting frequently and adjusting the seasonings as needed. Chill for a couple of hours before serving. Thin with a little milk before using if desired.
- For the salad: To assemble, layer chunks of the iceberg lettuce on a platter. In lines, lay on the grated cheese, shredded carrots and cucumber slices, and sprinkle the sunflower seeds over the top. Drizzle on the dressing and serve.

- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook bow-tie pasta at a boil, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 12 minutes. Drain and let cool.
- Meanwhile, place a steamer insert into a saucepan and fill with water to just below the bottom of the steamer. Bring water to a boil. Add broccoli, cover, and steam until tender, 4 to 6 minutes. Drain and let cool.

- Measure the mayonnaise into a bowl.
- Stir in the oil, 2 tablespoons at a time.
- Make sure all of the oil is blended in before adding more.
- Add the onion, and vinegar.
- Stir again, until all of the vinegar is absorbed.
- Add the sugar, basil, oregano, garlic, salt and pepper.
- Blend well.
- Store the mixture in a pint sized canning jar in the fridge. This may also be prepared by whirling everything together in a blender until it is smooth. Try it on your favorite salads, and also on baloney sandwiches, and in pita bread sandwiches. Excellent.
