1 package yellow cake mix (regular size)
1/3 cup butter, softened
1 large egg
1 can (21 ounces) apple pie filling
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
GLAZE:
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon whole milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat the cake mix, butter and egg until crumbly. Press onto the bottom of a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Top with pie filling. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over top., Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. In a small bowl combine the confectioners' sugar, milk and vanilla. Drizzle over warm cake. Serve with ice cream.

2 medium apples - unpeeled, cored, and cut into chunks
1 (8 ounce) can pineapple chunks, undrained
½ cup seedless grapes
½ cup orange juice
1 tablespoon butter, cubed
½ teaspoon cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place apples, pineapple chunks with juice, grapes, and orange juice in a medium baking dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon, dot with butter pieces, and cover.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until apples are tender. Serve hot.

  • In sm bowl, blend sour cream, egg and vanilla.
  • Pour over sugar mixture.
  • Bake for 40 minutes, until topping is golden.

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 each egg

Steps:

  • HEAT oven to 350. IN large bowl, combine mix, margarine and 1 egg at low speed until crumbly. Press into ungreased 13x9 pan; spread with pie filling. COMBINE brown sugar, nuts and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. IN small bowl, blend sour cream, egg and vanilla. Pour over sugar mixture. BAKE at 350 for 40-50 minutes or until top is golden brown.

I found this recipe in a newspaper a number of years ago, and I have been making it ever since. The apples go so well with the crumb and cream cheese layers. When fall comes around, this dessert is a real hit! Hint: Many reviewers have suggested doubling the amount of cream cheese!

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons milk
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3 1/2 cups apples, peeled and chopped

Steps:

  • Combine flour, brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Cut in butter to resemble coarse crumbs.
  • Add walnuts.
  • Measure 2 cups crumb mixture and set aside.
  • Press remaining mixture into a greased 9" x 13" pan.
  • Beat cream cheese and milk until smooth.
  • Mix in egg, sugar, and vanilla.
  • Pour over crumb mixture, and top with apples.
  • Sprinkle with the reserved crumbs and bake for 30 minutes at 350°F.
  • (Weight Watchers Points per serving: 7).
