Provided by Lindsay

Categories     Dessert

Time 5h25m

Number Of Ingredients 12

3/4 cup (100g) Oreo crumbs (about 9 Oreos)
1 1/2 tbsp butter, melted
1.5 quart container vanilla ice cream
1.5 quart container chocolate ice cream
6 oz | 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
3 tbsp light corn syrup
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup (120ml) heavy whipping cream
2 cups (480ml) heavy whipping cream, cold
1 cup (115g) powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Sprinkles

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and set aside.
  • 2. Combine the Oreo crumbs and melted butter and stir until well combined. Spread the crumbs evenly onto the prepared cookie sheet.
  • 3. Bake for 8-10 minutes, then allow to cool. Use your fingers to break any big clumps into smaller ones. Set aside.
  • 4. Line an 8×3 inch cake pan* with clear wrap that covers the bottom and goes above the sides of the cake pan. I used two pieces.
  • 5. About 20 minutes before you need it, set the chocolate ice cream out to soften. Add the softened chocolate ice cream to the prepared cake pan and spread into an even layer. Freeze for 30 minutes.
  • 6. To make the fudge layer, add the chocolate chips, corn syrup and vanilla extract to a medium sized bowl.
  • 7. Heat the heavy whipping cream just until it begins to boil, then pour it over the chocolate chips. Allow to sit for 2-3 minutes, the whisk until smooth.
  • 8. Remove the cake pan with the chocolate ice cream from the freezer, then pour the chocolate fudge over the ice cream and spread into an even layer. Freeze for about 10 minutes.
  • 9. Add the cookie crumbles to the top of the fudge layer, then freeze for about 2 hours, until mostly firm.
  • 10. About 20 minutes before you need it, set the vanilla ice cream out to soften. Add the vanilla ice cream to the top of the cake, then freeze until firm, 2-3 hours.
  • 11. Use the clear wrap to lift the frozen cake out of the pan, then place it on a cardboard cake circle or a serving plate. Set it back in the freezer.
  • 12. To make the whipped cream, add the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla extract to a large mixer bowl. Whip on high speed until stiff peaks form.
  • 13. Frost the cake with the whipped cream and decorate as desired. I used Ateco tip 844 for piping the borders.
  • 14. Freeze the cake until ready to serve. Cake is best when stored well covered and eaten within 4-5 days.

COPYCAT DAIRY QUEEN ICE CREAM CAKE, DAIRY-FREE OPTION

Copycat Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cake, Dairy-free Option image

Provided by Sonja Sarr

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 quarts of ice cream (I use two quarts of the Trader Joe's Soy Ice Cream)
1/2 package of chocolate sandwich cookies (most are vegan, candies or brownies, crushed)
chocolate syrup or fudge topping
12 ounces non-dairy whip (like So Delicious Coconut Whip in the freezer section)

Steps:

  • Melt 1 quart of the ice cream until spreadable (I usually just leave it out for a half hour or so after buying it from the store).
  • Line a 10 inch springform pan with parchment paper including the sides. Spread the ice cream on the bottom of the springform pan, and up the sides as best you can. Freeze for two or more hours.
  • Remove pan from freezer, and fill the middle of the ice cream cake with crushed cookies and chocolate syrup or fudge topping. Place in the freezer again. The chocolate might not freeze all the way.
  • Melt the last 1 quart of ice cream until spreadable. Remove pan from freezer, and spread the rest of the ice cream until smooth. Don't worry if the parchment paper makes the sides wrinkly because it will be covered later. Freeze for 3 hours to overnight. Place the non-dairy whip in the refrigerator to soften at this time.
  • Remove pan from freezer, remove the springform pan from the cake carefully, and place the cake on a serving plate (make sure it fits in your freezer). Spread the entire container of non-dairy whip on the top and sides of the cake. Refreeze for a couple of minutes and then decorate as desired. Freeze as needed.
  • Remove cake 10 minutes before serving, slice and enjoy!

HOMEMADE DAIRY QUEEN ICE CREAM CAKE

Homemade Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cake image

A copycat of my favorite DQ ice cream cake, complete with a fudge filling and chocolate crunchies!

Provided by Michelle

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 quarts chocolate ice cream (freshly churned or softened)
1 recipe Hot Fudge Sauce (prepared and cooled)
24 Oreo cookies (finely chopped)
2 quarts vanilla ice cream (freshly churned or softened)
2 cups heavy cream
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Lightly butter a 9-inch springform pan.
  • Spread the chocolate ice cream into an even layer in the bottom of the springform pan. Place in the freezer for 30 minutes. Spread the hot fudge sauce over the chocolate ice cream (if it had been chilled, you'll need to rewarm briefly), then sprinkle the chopped Oreo cookies, pressing lightly so that they adhere to the hot fudge. Return to the freezer for at least 30 minutes. Lastly, dollop the vanilla ice cream over the chopped Oreos and gently spread into an even layer. Freeze for at least 8 hours, or overnight.
  • At least 1 hour (and no more than 12 hours) before serving, unmold the cake. To release the cake from the pan, invert the cake onto a plate or cardboard round the same size and wrap a hot kitchen towel around the cake pan, keeping it there for 30 seconds, or until the cake loosens, and slide the pan off. Remove the bottom of pan. Top with a serving plate and turn the cake right side up. Return to the freezer for at least 10 minutes.
  • While the cake is in the freezer, make the whipped cream. Combine the heavy cream, sugar and vanilla extract in the bowl of a stand mixer. Using the whisk attachment, whip on medium-high speed until the cream is light and fluffy and holds a medium to firm peak, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Spread the whipped cream on the cake, working quickly so that the ice cream doesn't melt. (If it gets soft, just pop it back into the freezer for 5 minutes.) I used a Wilton #21 decorating tip to pipe a shell border around the top and bottom of the cake. Decorate with sprinkles on top, if desired.
  • Remove the cake from the freezer 5 minutes before serving to soften it slightly. A hot, dry knife will yield the cleanest cuts. Dip your knife in a glass of hot water, wipe it clean with a towel, and cut a slice. Repeat between every slice.

COPYCAT VEGAN DAIRY QUEEN ICE CREAM CAKE

Copycat Vegan Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cake image

Dairy Queen cake vegan copycat is a nostalgic dream come true! Chocolate and vanilla ice cream, an irresistible fudge and crunchy center, topped with whipped cream icing and sprinkles!

Provided by MostlyDomestic

Categories     Dessert

Time 8h

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 litre chocolate ice cream (- I used a store-bought cashew based brand)
1 litre vanilla ice cream (- I used a store-bought cashew based brand)
8 chocolate and vanilla cream cookies (- Like Oreo's or Glutino brand)
1 tbsp candy sprinkles
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup coconut cream (- thick portion of full-fat coconut milk)
1 tbsp corn syrup
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
pinch sea salt
2 1/2 cups whipped cream (- I used store-bought coconut whipped cream)
1/4 cup icing sugar
1 cup whipped cream (- I used store-bought coconut whipped cream)
1/4 cup cornstarch

Steps:

  • Line the sides of a 9 inch springform cake pan with plastic wrap (do not cover the bottom) by removing side panel from pan. I used several pieces to wrap around the sides. Secure plastic wrapped sides back onto the pan. Set aside.
  • Remove the chocolate ice cream from the freezer, and place contents into a large mixing bowl. Leave out for 15-30 minutes to soften, stirring every few minutes to promote even softening. Texture should resemble a velvety soft serve, in order to use in the recipe. Pour the softened chocolate ice cream to the prepared pan and spread into an even layer. Freeze for 45-60 minutes.
  • While chocolate ice cream layer is in the freezer, prep chocolate fudge and cookie layer.
  • In a double boiler, add all ingredients for fudge layer. Heat water to medium and slowly melt ingredients, while stirring very frequently. Once melted and well combined, remove from heat and set aside.
  • In a small food processor, add chocolate and vanilla cream cookies. Pulse a few times until cookies are well broken up. Set aside.
  • Remove the pan from the freezer, and pour the slightly cooled fudge over the chocolate ice cream and spread into an even layer. Working quickly, top the fudge layer with cookie crumbles (the cold layer will cause the fudge to freeze up very fast) and lightly press them into the fudge layer with hand palm or spatula. Return to freezer for another 30-45 minutes.
  • Remove the vanilla ice cream from the freezer, and place contents into a large mixing bowl. Leave out for 15-30 minutes to soften, stirring every few minutes to promote even softening. Texture should resemble a velvety soft serve, in order to use in the recipe.
  • Remove the cake pan from the freezer. Carefully pour the softened vanilla ice cream into the prepared pan and spread over the cookie/fudge layer, into an even layer. Freeze for 1-2 hours.
  • About 10 minutes prior to removing the cake from the freezer, prep the whipped icing layer and whipped pipping icing. For whipped icing layer (this will be applied all over the cake), combine the whipped cream and icing sugar. Stir well and refrigerate until you're ready to use. For whipped pipping icing (this is used for decor around the top and bottom of the cake), combine the whipped cream and cornstarch. Stir well and refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Remove the cake from the freezer and carefully detach springform pan sides. Using whipped icing layer, frost cake. If you intend on adding sprinkles or other candy decor to the cake, do so in this step. Return to freezer for 15-20 minutes and allow whipped icing layer to set.
  • Transfer whipped pipped icing to a pastry bag with your desired decorating tip. Remove cake from freezer and working quickly, pipe icing around top and bottom of the cake. Transfer to freezer for a minimum of 2 hours before serving.
  • Store uneaten cake in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a week.

  • I started with a vanilla and chocolate ice cream, but it's up to you to use whatever flavors you like! Begin by letting the ice cream soften just a tad so it is workable but not soupy and melted (it's an art to achieve the best consistency).
  • Butter the bottom and sides of your pan, then spread a thin layer of vanilla ice cream on the bottom and sides, all the way to the top. Refreeze for a few minutes to harden this layer before moving onto the next.
  • Fill a plastic bag with Oreo cookies (or store brand), and use a rolling pin to crush them into fine crumbs. You may also try putting them in a food grater or blender. The smaller the crumbs the better! Mix the crumbs with chocolate syrup and spread over chocolate ice cream.

  • In a spring form pan (I used a 9 inch), layer the chocolate ice cream in the bottom. Smooth and return to the freezer to slightly harden about 1-2 hours.
  • Remove the cream filling from the Oreos and put the chocolate cookies into a bag. Smash the cookies in the bag until they are course crumbs. Pour cookie crumbs over chocolate ice cream and press in slightly. Pour the hot fudge (which may need to be slightly warmed so it is easier to work with) over the cookie crumbs and chocolate ice cream. Smooth and return to freezer for 1-2 hours until set.
  • Add vanilla ice cream over the top of the cake. Smooth and return to freezer 2-4 hours until completely set.
  • Make whipped cream for decorating by whipping together heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff. Use some of whipped cream to cover sides and top of cake to hide chocolate and fudge layer. With the remaining cream, decorate using a piping bag and tip. Finish cake with colored sprinkles on top.

  • Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper. Set a cold spring form (9-inch or 10-inch) pan ring (no bottom) on top.
  • Peel the top layer of parchment away. Place a large plate or serving platter on top of the cake. Gently flip the cake and plate over so the cake is right-side up on the plate (chocolate layer should be on the bottom, vanilla on the top). Peel the second piece of paper away.
  • In a standing mixer with the whisk attachment, whip together cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form. Frost the cake completely.

DAIRY QUEEN COPYCAT ICE CREAM CAKE : 9 STEPS (WITH ...

From instructables.com
Estimated Reading Time 7 mins
  • First Ice Cream Layer. To begin, take you first ice cream flavor (I'm using Moose tracks) out of the freezer and leave it out for about twenty minutes to soften.
  • Oreo Crumble. Open your oreo package and take about three fourths of the oreos out and put them in a zip-lock bag. When shutting the zip-lock bag, make sure to get out the excess air before sealing.
  • Add a Little Extra Frosting. Take the rest of the oreos still left whole and open them all up, taking the frosting in the middle out and putting it in a separate bowl.
  • Add Fudge. Take the ice cream cake out of the freezer and add fudge, spreading it over the ice cream to make a thick layer. It would help to microwave the fudge a little bit before spreading, but then you have to work extra fast so that the ice cream doesn't melt too much from the heat.
  • Last Layer. While the cake is hardening a bit, take the second ice cream flavor (I'm using plain chocolate) out of the freezer and allow to sit until soft, about twenty minutes.
  • Cut the Cake Loose! Boil some water and pour it into a mug with a knife in it. This will help a lot with cutting the cake out of the pan! And it'll insure that more cake stays on the cake instead of stuck to the pan.
  • Frosting With Cool Whip! It's time to get out the Cool Whip! Yay! As this cake is made of ice cream, you're going to be using the cool whip as the "frosting".
  • Decorate! Take your Reese's pieces and unwrap them. Believe it or not, it actually took quite some time (or at least it felt like it!) so the ice cream cake was pretty well frozen when I took it out again.
  • Enjoy! When you're finished decorating, I recommend that you stick the cake back into the freezer before serving. Then enjoy! It tastes awesome:)

HOW TO MAKE ICE CREAM CAKE THAT'S EVEN BETTER THAN DQ

From tasteofhome.com
Estimated Reading Time 9 mins
  • Prepare the Cake Pan. Place a nine-inch springform pan into your freezer to chill. This will help prevent the ice cream from melting as you assemble the cake.
  • Make the Chocolate Cookie Crunch. Preheat oven to 350°. While it heats, pulse the Oreo cookies several times in a food processor. Add the melted butter and then pulse for a few more seconds until rough cookie crumbs remain.
  • Make the Ganache. In a small saucepan, bring the heavy cream to a strong simmer. Remove from heat and then pour over the semisweet chocolate chips in a medium glass bowl.
  • Form an Ice Cream Barrier. While the ganache cools, remove the vanilla ice cream from the freezer and let soften for 15-20 minutes on the counter.
  • Create the Bottom Ice Cream Layer. Remove the chocolate ice cream from the freezer and let soften for 15-20 minutes. Once the vanilla ice cream “wall” has firmed up in the pan, spoon the chocolate ice cream into the center of the cake pan lined with vanilla ice cream.
  • Add Fudge and Cookie Crumble. Next, pour a generous layer of the chocolate ganache over the chocolate ice cream layer. Smooth with an offset spatula before sprinkling the ganache with the chilled cookie crumbles.
  • Top It Off with More Ice Cream. While the previous layers firm up in the freezer, remove the vanilla ice cream again and let it soften on the counter.
  • Make Whipped Cream Icing. While the cake freezes, prepare the whipped cream icing. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks begin to form. Then add the powdered sugar and vanilla.
  • Remove the Outer Ring. Remove the ice cream cake from the freezer and use a clean dishcloth soaked in hot water to defrost and loosen the ice cream from the sides of the springform pan.
  • Decorate. Finish the cake by applying a thin, smooth layer of the whipped cream icing. Use a cake smoother or offset spatula to smooth the icing neatly over the sides and top of the ice cream.
