COCA-COLA STEAK FAJITA MARINADE

Took a look at some recipes and created my own based on my tastes. I added the Coke 'cause I heard of the idea once at a carniceria here in Tucson. First time I've tried it! :)

2 1/2 cups Coca-Cola
2 limes, juice of, with zest
3/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup green onion, Chopped
1/3 cup yellow onion
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, Chopped
1 tablespoon jalapeno, Chopped
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • I mix all of my ingredients in a bowl and pour over the meat in a shallow dish. (You can also combine the ingredients in a large resealable bag.).
  • Refrigerate overnight, turning meat occasionally.
  • Grill it up! (or give it to your awesome husband to grill lol).

Coca Cola Sweet and Sour Glazed Beef Kabobs image

Note: If using wooden skewers for this recipe, soak them in water for 20 minutes to prevent them from burning during the cooking process.

3/4 cup coca cola, divided
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1/3 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp tomato paste
4 tbsp packed dark brown sugar, divided
1 tbsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1 large onion, cut into 1-inch pieces
2 lbs boneless sirloin steak, cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes
2 1/2 tsp cornstarch
2 to 3 tsp chili-garlic sauce
salt and black pepper to taste
hot cooked white rice (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Mix 1/2 cup Coca Cola, pineapple juice, soy sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, 2 Tbsp brown sugar, garlic powder, red pepper flakes and onion in covered container: marinate steak overnight in refrigerator. Remove steak cubes and onion pieces from refrigerator. Reserve marinade.
  • 2. Add marinade to small saucepan. Bring to a boil over hight heat. Spoon 2 Tbsp marinade into small bowl and stir conrstarch into hot liquid until mixture is smooth. Return liquid to pan. Stir in remaining 2 Tbsp brown sugar and chili-garlic sauce. Reduce heat to medium and simmer 15 to 18 minutes until thickened and reduced to 1 cup. Season to taste with salt and black pepper.
  • 3. Meanwhile, place steak cubes on 6 skewers, alternating evenly with the onion pieces. Broil 3 minutes, turn and broil 2 minutes. Glaze kabobs with sauce using a clean pastry brush. Serve over rice, if desired. *Chili-garlic sauce can be found in the Asian foods section of the grocery store.

Yummy steak or pork chops done on the grill, then covered with a great sauce. Perfect for any summer time meal. I found this in a grocery store calendar. Y-U-M !!!

1 (355 ml) can Coke (or whatever cola drink you like)
1/2 cup chili sauce
1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons molasses
2 teaspoons chili powder
4 steaks (strip loin works best, at least 3/4 inch thick, or for pork chops use 8 thick cut, bone in chops)
salt and pepper
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Steps:

  • In a large glass dish, mix together Coke, chili sauce, vinegar, molasses, and chili powder. Add steaks and cover to coat. Let marinate at least one hour, but up to 24 hours if there's time.
  • Remove steaks and let excess marinade drip off.
  • Pour marinade into a suace pan. Add garlic.
  • Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally for around 10 minutes or until reduced to about 1 1/4 cups. Stir in parsley.
  • Meanwhile, place steak on pre heated grill over medium heat. Turn once, leaving on for your desired doneness. Remove to plate, and pour sauce over top.

1 -1 1/2 lb sirloin steak, boneless
2 tablespoons oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
8 fluid ounces beef broth or 8 fluid ounces bouillon
1 green pepper, cored and seeded and cut into strips
1 cup celery, thinly sliced
1/4 cup onion, thinly sliced
6 fluid ounces Coca-Cola
2 medium ripe tomatoes
2 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
rice, hot cooked

Steps:

  • Trim all fat from the meat and cut into pencil-thin strips.
  • In a deep skillet or Dutch oven, heat oil, garlic, and salt.
  • Add the meat and brown over high heat, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally with a fork.
  • Add the beef broth; cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the meat is fork-tender.
  • Stir in the green pepper strips, celery, onions, and 4 fluid ounces of Coca-Cola; cover and simmer for 5 minutes- do not overcook, the vegetables should be crisp-tender!
  • Peel the tomatoes, cut into wedges, gently stir into meat.
  • Blend cornstarch with 2 fluid ounces of Coca-Cola and the soy sauce; stir mixture into the meat and cook until sauce is thickens, about 1 minute, stirring lightly with a fork.
  • Serve over hot rice.
