Best Ever One Bowl Chocolate Cake image

This Best Ever One Bowl Chocolate Cake is the 'holy grail' of chocolate cakes! It's soft and tender with a deep chocolate flavour, and it's perfect for frosting!

1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup boiling water
3/4 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk (optional (to thin out the frosting if necessary))

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt until well combined.
  • Add the eggs, the milk, the vegetable oil and the vanilla, and whisk these ingredients into the dry ingredients until the mixture is smooth.
  • Slowly add the boiling water, whisking constantly until the cake batter is runny and smooth.
  • Pour the cake batter into a greased 9-inch by 13-inch rectangular pan and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan on a wire rack while you make the frosting.
  • For the frosting, whip the butter on high speed using a stand mixer or electric hand mixer until the butter is pale and smooth. Add the cocoa powder and the powdered sugar and continue to whip until everything is combined and smooth.
  • If necessary, add the milk a few drops at a time to loosen up the frosting until it reaches a consistency that is spreadable. This step may not be necessary depending on the temperature of the butter you used for the frosting.
  • When the cake has cooled completely, spread the frosting over the cake.
  • Refrigerate the cake for about 1 hour to allow the frosting to set before serving, or serve immediately if you desire.

My grandaughter wanted to make her mom a fairy cake for her birthday. So far so good. the cake turned out great now we just have to find out how to make a fairy with easy to make wings. Wish us luck

- one box chocolate cake mix, mix as instructed on box. the only addition was two tablespoons of un-sweeted fry's cocoa powder.

Steps:

  • We baked it for approximately 1 hour and 10 min. but after 55 min checked it every 5 min for doneness. Every oven is different and so are the sizes of the pans. Be diligent as you don't want the cake to burn or get crusty edges if you can help it.
  • Cool for one hour before removing from 'pan". Decorate as desired. Mine is still an empty canvas.
  • I forgot to say that you should grease then flour the dish generously. These cakes are good for doll,fairy or clown cakes. Good luck

frosting, of your choice
colored sprinkles, if desired (optional)

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients.
  • Stir in oil, buttermilk, and eggs.
  • Add water and stir until combined.
  • Pour into a greased 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-38 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
  • Cool completely.
  • Frost as desired.

100 g dark chocolate
5 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
200 g butter
3 eggs, separated
250 g white cheese
100 g sugar
350 g petit beurre biscuits (regular or chocolate-flavored)
wine or liqueur, for dipping

Steps:

  • Prepare the cream:
  • In a double boiler, melt chocolate and mix in the 5 tablespoons sugar ,the milk, cocoa powder, instant coffee granules and butter.
  • Remove from the heat and mix in the yolks and then the cheese until consistent and creamy.
  • In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff, then gradually add the 100g sugar until shiny. Gently fold in the chocolate cream.
  • Dip biscuits in milk/wine/liqueur and place in a Pyrex pan. Spread on the chocolate cream and repeat for two more layers.
  • Add grated milk chocolate on top to make the cake more decorative.
