CANDY SUSHI

Candy Sushi image

Fun for parties and, personally, I think much better than normal sushi.

Provided by LittleChef

Categories     Desserts     Candy Recipes

Time 30m

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 (10.5 ounce) package miniature marshmallows
2 tablespoons butter
½ (17.5 ounce) package crispy rice cereal (such as Rice Krispies®)
3 square fruit rolls (such as General Mills® Fruit Roll-Ups)
4 pieces red licorice

Steps:

  • Combine marshmallows and butter in a large saucepan over medium-low heat; cook and stir until melted, 5 to 10 minutes. Stir rice cereal into marshmallow mixture until evenly coated. Remove saucepan from heat and cool mixture until easily handled, about 10 minutes.
  • Unroll fruit rolls onto a work surface. Cut licorice to fit the length of each fruit roll.
  • Spoon rice mixture onto half of each fruit roll. Place a piece of licorice on top of 1 rice mixture edge. Starting on the licorice edge, roll fruit roll around rice mixture ending with the fruit roll edge without rice mixture to seal. Repeat with remaining fruit rolls.

Provided by Nicole Harris

Categories     desserts

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 5

24 oz Bag Jumbo Marshmallows
1 Tablespoon Butter
8 Cups Crispy Rice Cereal
30 + Swedish Fish Candies
2 Boxes Fruit by the Foot

Steps:

  • Prepare large rimmed baking sheet pan by lining with wax paper and generously buttering or spraying with nonstick.
  • In extra large bowl; combine marshmallows and butter. Microwave 2-2 ½ minutes or until marshmallows have puffed up and almost doubled in size.
  • Immediately stir in crispy rice cereal.

CANDY SUSHI

Candy Sushi image

A fun candy treat to make for a themed party - to pull kids in and inspire imagination! From the RR archives. ;) Maybe for a Japanese dinner party when the kiddos may not eat sushi with you--this might help them participate for dessert? Or just a fun kids party--or even Halloween. ;) I haven't tried these yet, so I guessed on the times, but will update once I do. I am a slow one in the kitchen though!! *Increase amounts according to number of people/portions desired*

Time 10m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 tablespoon butter, cut into pieces
12 regular marshmallows
2 cups puffed rice cereal (recommended: Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal)
4 fruit roll-ups (pressed dried fruit rounds, 8 inches) any brand, any flavor
8 strips licorice candy (recommended: Twizzler's brand), any flavor ? pieces should be 6 to 7 inches long, trim to match width of roll-ups

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat and add marshmallows. Stir marshmallows until completely melted. Remove mixture from heat and add cereal. Stir to coat cereal evenly in melted marshmallows.
  • Roll out the fruit roll-ups. Place 1/4 of the coated cereal onto each fruit roll up and spread and gather toward 1 side of roll up. Place 2 licorice twists onto the center of the spread out cereal mix. Wrap and roll the candy and fruit, maneuvering the licorice to the center of the roll, so that the finished product resembles a sushi roll. Repeat with remaining rolls.

SUSHI FOR KIDS: 11 SIMPLE RECIPES – TSUBUGAI

From tsubugai.com
  • Avocado Rolls. One of the simplest kinds of rolls you can whip up with your kids is the avocado roll. It’s tasty and has only one ingredient, which might ease the minds of suspicious picky eaters.
  • Raw Veggie Rolls. Raw veggie rolls are great for kids who are ready to try a more complicated sushi roll than simply avocado. They’re full of vegetables that the kids have seen before: carrots, cucumber, and avocado.
  • California Rolls. The California roll is one of the most common sushi dishes in the US. You can find them at restaurants, grocery stores, and gas stations all over the world.
  • Tuna Salad Rolls. For a fishy sushi roll that still won’t taste too much like raw fish, try the popular tuna salad roll. This is similar to the spicy tuna roll, only with less spice.
  • Spicy Tuna Rolls. Spicy food tends to scare off picky eaters, but if you have a child who is a big fan of spicy food, then the spicy tuna roll is a classic that they’ll love to try.
  • Philadelphia Rolls. Veggie rolls, California rolls, and tuna salad rolls are all safe options if your child has never tried sushi before. Some kids have slightly more adventurous palettes, though, and may want to try a different, more unique sushi flavor.
  • Shrimp Tempura Rolls. If you have a kid who loves shrimp, the shrimp tempura roll is a great option. Tempura batter is delicious and crunchy when it’s poured over shrimp and fried.
  • Sweet Potato Rolls. For another unique sushi roll that’s still full of flavors that kids love, this sweet potato sushi roll recipe will appeal to kids (and adults) of all ages.
  • Rainbow Rolls. Maybe you have kids that are already sushi lovers, and you want to introduce them to a more daring sushi dish. It can be hard to produce a new dish that everyone will love, especially sushi, which typically uses a lot of raw fish.
  • Nigiri. Rolls of sushi can be difficult to eat for extremely young children, who might find it difficult to keep all the ingredients inside the roll as they eat.
