WHAT NOT TO FEED BEARDED DRAGONS (21 THINGS) - WILDLIFE …

From wildlifeinformer.com
  • Onions and Chives. Onions, raw or cooked, should not be fed to bearded dragons. They are not only too acidic for your dragon’s sensitive digestive system, but they also contain other compounds that are not healthy.
  • Mushrooms. Mushrooms contain high phosphorus and acidic content and can be toxic to bearded dragons among ingestion. Some mushrooms may be less problematic than others, but unless you are a fungi expert it’s best to avoid all mushrooms.
  • Leeks. Leeks are part of the onion family like chives, and they should not ingest them. It is thought that too many leeks can cause organ failure, although the exact quantity that causes this is unknown.
  • Garlic. Garlic is in the same genus as onions, chives, & leeks, and therefore it is better to play it safe.
  • Rhubarb. Rhubarb can be deadly to bearded dragons. It contains high levels of oxalic acid, enough to be poisonous to bearded dragons.
  • Avocados. Avocados are toxic and can even be lethal to bearded dragons. They also contain oxalic acid. Oxalic acid binds to minerals like calcium and prevents your bearded dragon from being able to absorb them.
  • Eggplants. Eggplants, raw or cooked are way too acidic for a bearded dragon. So it’s better to be safe than sorry with this fruit. Too much could prove hazardous.
  • Iceberg lettuce. Iceberg lettuce made it on the list because of its lack of nutritional value. Your beardie could eat a lot of it and feel full, but be getting almost no nutrients from it whatsoever.
  • Buttercup. Buttercups are considered toxic to Bearded dragons and should not be allowed to eat. If you are looking for new food to try with your bearded dragon, they can eat dandelions.
  • Wild-Caught Insects. Do not give you bearded dragon wild insects. You may think it’s a great idea to catch your own bugs to save money and maybe rid your yard of pests, but they may be harmful.

TOP BEARDED DRAGON SAFE PLANTS: WHAT THEY CAN AND …

From reptile.guide
  • Tillandsia Ionantha. Tillandsia Ionantha are the PERFECT low maintenance type of plant to include because they stay relatively small, growing just 2 – 4 inches.
  • Homegrown Herbs (oregano, cilantro, parsley, rosemary, etc.) Herbs are GREAT options for bearded dragon tanks because bearded dragons typically enjoy munching on them and they’re also easy to grow.
  • Aloe Vera. Another great option is the Aloe Vera plant, which looks GREAT in your beardie’s cage and is pretty similar to the Tillandsia Ionantha in terms of upkeep and maintenance.
  • Callisia Repens (AKA Turtle Vine, Wandering Jew, etc.) The Callisia Repens is another low maintenance option that is extremely easy to grow and will create a fun new texture for your dragon to enjoy.
  • Carex buchananii (Red Rooster Ornamental Grass) A standout amongst bearded dragons, Carex Buchananii is one of the BEST plants you can put in their enclosure as it closely mimics the grasses found in their native habitat.
  • Jade Plant. Jade plants will not only look nice and green but will also do well in a bearded dragon’s tank as they can tolerate really dry conditions.
  • Bearded Dragon Succulent Choice #2: Echeveria. By far one of the most popular succulent plants, echeveria always looks great and poses virtually no threat in your dragon’s tank.
  • Custom Reptile Habitats Fake Bearded Dragon Plants. Some of my all-time favorite fake plants for bearded dragons include those made by Custom Reptile Habitats.
  • Exo Terra Terrarium Plants. Another option for fake bearded dragon plants are the terrarium plants made by Exo Terra. These plants are decently lifelike looking and will add instant style to any dragon’s tank.
  • Fluker’s Repta Vines-Pothos for Reptiles and Amphibians. If you’ve been looking for a great way to dress up boring glass terrarium walls, look no further than the vines by Fluker’s.
