Butterscotch Shake image

This creamy delicious butterscotch shake is the perfect sweet treat for breakfast, brunch or lunch. It gets its flavor from a homemade butterscotch sauce and comes together in no time. You can substitute frozen yogurt or sliced banana for the ice cream. So good!

¼ cup unsalted butter
¼ cup dark brown sugar (packed)
½ cup heavy cream
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon Scotch whiskey (optional)
¼ cup milk
2 cups vanilla ice cream (You can substitute frozen yogurt or a small frozen sliced banana.)
2 tablespoons butterscotch sauce (recipe included)
whipped cream (Optional.)
butterscotch chips (Chopped. Optional.)

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the brown sugar and stir to combine.Bring to a boil then reduce to a slow and steady boil and continue cooking, stirring frequently, for 2-3 minutes.
  • Carefully add the heavy cream and salt. Stir to combine. Bring mixture back to a slow boil. While stirring, cook another 3-4 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and Scotch, if using.
  • Set aside and allow to cool. Sauce will thicken as it cools.
  • In a large blender, add all ingredients in this order: milk, ice cream, butterscotch sauce.
  • Blend until smooth and creamy.
  • Pour into a chilled glass and top with whipped cream, chopped butterscotch chips, and extra butterscotch sauce, if desired.

8 ounces water or 4 ounces soymilk and 4oz water
2 tablespoons vanilla protein powder (1 scoop)
1 tablespoon sugar free butterscotch pudding mix
2 ice cubes

Steps:

  • Put water in blender first add protein powder then add remaining ingredients.
  • Blend on low, then high till blended.

Yield 2 drinks

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 ounce chopped semisweet chocolate
3 tablespoons heavy cream
1 14-ounce container dulce de leche ice cream, slightly softened
1/3 cup malted milk powder (such as Carnation)
2 ounces scotch
Whipped cream and toffee bits, for garnish

Steps:

  • Freeze 2 tall glasses until very cold. Put the chocolate and heavy cream in a small microwave-safe bowl; microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring, until smooth. Drop a big spoonful of the chocolate sauce in the bottom of each glass and drizzle some around the inside.
  • Puree the ice cream, malted milk powder, cup ice and the scotch in a blender until smooth; divide between the prepared glasses. Garnish with whipped cream, toffee bits and more chocolate sauce.
