Quick Bratwurst Pizza image

Quick Bratwurst Pizza is a super quick and yummy way to use up those leftover brats. Made in a flash with naan bread, a creamy mustard sauce, sauerkraut, red onions, sliced leftover brats and Swiss cheese! If you have 5 minutes to prep this, and 10 minutes to bake this, you will have dinner ready in no time!

2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 teaspoons deli mustard ((with horseradish))
⅛ teaspoon salt
⅛ teaspoon black pepper
1 naan flatbread
½ cup sauerkraut (drained well)
¼ cup red onions (thinly sliced)
1 bratwurst (cooked and sliced)
½ cup Swiss cheese (shredded)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Mix mayonnaise, deli mustard and salt and pepper.
  • Spread creamy mustard onto the naan flatbread.
  • Top flatbread with sauerkraut, red onions, sliced bratwurst and Swiss cheese.
  • Cook on a pizza stone in the oven for 8 minutes.
  • Change oven setting to broil, place pizza on the top rack and broil for 1-2 minutes, or until the top of pizza gets a little bubbly and brown. Make sure to watch it closely so it doesn't burn.

3 (12-ounce) bottles dark beer
6 brats
1 large jar sauerkraut
6 sesame brat buns, or hot dog buns
Dijon mustard, or yellow mustard

Steps:

  • Pour beer into a pot and heat over medium heat. Place brats and kraut in beer and simmer for approximately 10 minutes. With tongs, remove brats from beer and place 1 in each bun. Using a slotted spoon, cover brat in sauerkraut. Drizzle mustard on top of kraut.

2 pounds fresh bratwurst links
2 onions, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
3 cups chicken stock
1 tablespoon paprika

4 cups sauerkraut, drained

1 baguette

Steps:

  • In a large pan, heat oil over high heat. Brown bratwurst in oil and reduce heat to medium. Add onions and garlic and cook until lightly caramelized. Add stock, paprika, caraway seeds, and sauerkraut and simmer for 45 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in fresh dill. Serve on baguette.

3 onions, sliced
1 garlic clove
1 (11 ounce) can sauerkraut, don't drain
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1 bay leaf
6 bratwursts
6 hot dog buns

Steps:

  • Saute onions in butter.
  • When the onions are caramelized add garlic, saute for 1 minute.
  • Add undrained sauerkraut, sugar, celery seed and bay leaf.
  • Cover and simmer 1/2 hour.
  • Add meat and simmer for 45 minutes.
  • Serve on bun and top with sauerkraut.

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
1 can (15 ounces) pizza sauce
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) Italian diced tomatoes, drained

Steps:

  • Press pizza dough onto a lightly greased 14-in. round pizza pan. Bake at 450° for 4 minutes; set aside. , In a large skillet, cook the sausage, onion, 1 teaspoon fennel seed, oregano, basil and garlic until the sausage is no longer pink and onion is tender; drain. , Sprinkle crust with 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese. Spread with pizza sauce, sausage mixture, tomatoes, sauerkraut and remaining fennel seed and mozzarella. 14 1/2 ounces diced tomatoes, drained
15 ounces pizza sauce
10 ounces prepared pizza crust or 19 ounces boboli Italian bread
1 1/4 lbs pork sausage
1 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon fennel seed
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
1 large garlic clove, chopped fine
12 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450. Saute' sausage with the onion, 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed, oregano, basil and garlic. On the pizza crust spread a thin layer of mozzarella and a layer remaining items in this order, pizza sauce,sausage, diced tomatoes and kraut.
  • Sprinkle remaining fennel seed over kraut, top with remaining mozzarella and sprinkle with parmeasan. Salt and pepper to taste. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes.

PIZZA CRUST
2 large pizza crusts (home made, ready made, from a mix, or from pre baked round loaves of flat bread, flour tortillas)
PIZZA TOPPINGS
1 can(s) spaghetti sauce (or alfredo sauce)
1 can(s) (15 ounces) sauerkraut (drained, squeezed and lightly chopped)
3 large brautwurst sausages (cooked and sliced into coins)
8 ounce(s) mozzarella cheese (shredded)
8 ounce(s) sharp ceddar cheese (shredded)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Prepare your pizza crusts and put on pizza pans or baking sheets.
  • Choose what kind of sauce you want, and spread it onto the crust. "Fluff UP" the prepared sauerkraut, sprinkle evently over the two pizza crusts. Evenly distribute the brat coins on top of the sauerkraut layer. Sprinkle the cheeses over the pizzas.
  • Bake for 18 minutes or until the cheeses are melted, and browned slightly. Remove from oven, cut into wedges or squares... serve!
  • *** You can either bake both pizzas now... or bake one and freeze one... I bake both right away and have left overs during the week.

1 pound sauerkraut (1 can), drained
1 onion, sliced thin
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup dry white wine
1 cup chicken stock
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
8 bratwurst sausages
12 small red-skinned potatoes

Steps:

  • Simmer the sauerkraut for 10 minutes in boiling salted water. Drain.
  • Meanwhile, in a large skillet, soften the onions in the butter, browning lightly. Add the sauerkraut, wine, stock, sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Bring to boil, turn down, cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, simmer the bratwurst in water to cover for 20 minutes.
  • Add the potatoes to the sauerkraut in the skillet and cook, covered, for 15 to 20 minutes or until tender.
  • While the potatoes are cooking, drain the bratwurst and brown lightly on all sides under a hot broiler.
  • To serve, put the sauerkraut and potatoes on a heated platter and arrange the bratwurst over the top.
