The Homemade Big Mac tastes even better when you make this one at home.

1 1/2 pounds ground chuck
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon of butter
¼ cup special sauce
5 slices of American cheese
1 tablespoon minced onion
15 dill pickle slices

Steps:

  • In a bowl combine ground chuck and salt and pepper. Shape meat into 10 meat patties. Shape patties somewhat thin. Set a griddle to 350 degrees. Place meat on the griddle and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Season with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Flip burgers and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until juices from the meat run clear.
  • Spread softened butter on cut sides of bun and place on griddle until the bread begins to brown. Flip the middle bun and allow to toast on both sides.
  • Build the burger by starting at the bottom. The bottom bun, Big Mac sauce, onions, lettuce, cheese, hamburger patty, and the middle bun. Spread the Big Mac sauce, onion, lettuce, hamburger patty, two or three pickle slices, and finally the top bun.

⅔ pound ground beef (85% lean)
2 cups mayonnaise
2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
1 ½ teaspoons white wine vinegar, or more to taste
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground paprika
4 hamburger bun bottoms
2 hamburger bun tops
2 tablespoons minced onion, or to taste
½ cup shredded lettuce, or to taste
2 tablespoons dill pickle slices, or to taste
2 slices American cheese
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Shape ground beef into 4 flat patties that will fit the hamburger buns. Place them on a tray lined with waxed paper; transfer to the freezer.
  • Mix mayonnaise, mustard, pickle relish, white wine vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika in a bowl to make sauce. Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  • Preheat a large skillet over medium heat. Toast buns in batches until lightly golden, 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Layer some of the sauce, 1 tablespoon minced onion, 2 tablespoons lettuce, and pickles on 2 bottom buns. Layer some of the sauce and remaining 1 tablespoon minced onion, 2 tablespoons lettuce, and American cheese on the other bottom buns.
  • Season patties with salt and pepper. Cook in the hot skillet 2 at a time until browned, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Place 1 patty over each bottom bun; stack and cover with top buns.

This Big Mac copycat recipe is a great recipe to follow, to create a quick, easy and tasty mid week snack. We recommend following our recipe for the Big Mac special sauce for maximum likeness, however you can always use thousand island dressing, if you're in a rush or not in the mood to make the sauce.

1 Sesame-seed hamburger bun
1 Additional hamburger bun (For the center bun)
1/4lb Ground beef
Dash of Salt
1 tbspn Big Mac Special Sauce / Thousand Island Dressing
1 tspn Finely diced onion
1/2 Cup Chopped lettuce
2 Slices of Sliced cheese
3 Pickle slices

Steps:

  • Either use Thousand Island dressing for the sauce or create our Big Mac Sauce copycat recipe following this method and let it chill. Cut the top off of the extra bun, leaving around 3cm of the bottom half of the bun, which will form the middle part of the Big Mac. Separate the ground beef into two thin 15cm patties and season with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Cook both patties in a hot pan for 2 minutes on each side over a medium heat until slightly charred. Lightly toast the three bun halves, either in a hot pan with butter or in a toaster. Create your final Big Mac by stacking the elements in the following order. 1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon vinegar
1/8 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • To make special sauce, mix ingredients in small bowl. Cover and place in refrigerator. Prepare buns by slicing top bun in half horizontally. Add this slice to a full set of hamburger buns to make one big mac bun.
  • Roll two 2 ounce beef chunks into the size of two golf balls. Flatten atop wax paper, place another piece on top and set in freezer for a couple hours. When ready, cook on skillet for 1-2 minutes per side.
  • Spread special sauce, shredded lettuce, and ½ teaspoon minced onion on top of bottom and middle buns. Place one slice American cheese on bottom bun. Place two pickle slices on middle bun. Put a piece of beef on top of middle and bottom buns, combine sandwich.
