Mar 26, 2011 Cat allergies can vary a lot in severity, but mine have always improved with prolonged exposure, not gotten worse. It might vary between different people, but I'd agree that the litter is probably a more likely culprit than the cats. Dec 23, 2013 I just applied it with Q-tips directly on the wounds. Immediately the scratching stopped and the skin healed within a few days. Then I added fish oil omega 3 to improve skin and fur condition. I don't know how omega 3 can help with food allergy maybe it can help the severity. Then due to Crystal formation and 2 surgeries he was switched to Hills Pres, anti Crystal food. No crystals, but lots of skin allergies. Now he's been switched from that to Hills Pres. May 20, 2013 My senior cat who I've had for about 7 months started tearing himself up (scratching face/head/neck/shoulders bloody) back in Feb/March. I promptly switched his food to LID and took him to the vet. He actually improved on the new food before going into the vet so the vet looked him over and prescribed no form of treatment. May 4, 2009 Make sure the kitty gets no treats, no people food, or other cat food during the trial. I might also try some special shampoo. I had a cat that had a funky skin problem that no vet was able to really pin point the cause so I tried using some Chlorehexiderm shampoo twice weekly and after several weeks it finally went away and stayed away.
