BAKED HAMBURGERS
This baked hamburgers recipe is hearty and moist. The onion gives it a special flavor, and the sweet-flavored sauce further enhances the taste. I serve these as an entree with accompanying vegetables or on a bun as a sandwich. -Marg Bisgrove, Widewater, Alberta

Steps:
- Make the fries: Brush a baking sheet with vegetable oil. Heat 2 to 3 inches vegetable oil in a Dutch oven until a deep-fry thermometer registers 365 degrees F. Meanwhile, bring a medium pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta to the boiling water and cook as the package directs, then drain. Spread in an even layer on the prepared baking sheet and let cool.
- Cut the cooked spaghetti into short pieces and fry in batches, turning once, until golden, 30 seconds to 1 minute. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with the parmesan and salt.
- Make the burgers: Preheat the broiler. Pulse the onion, 4 garlic cloves, 1/2 cup basil and the parsley in a food processor until finely chopped. Transfer to a bowl and add the ground beef, 1/2 cup each parmesan and tomato sauce, the oregano, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and pepper to taste. Mix with your hands until combined and form into four 1-inch-thick patties. Transfer to a rimmed baking sheet.
- Broil the patties, turning once, until browned and just cooked through, 6 to 8 minutes. Top each patty with a slice of mozzarella and 2 tablespoons of the remaining tomato sauce. Return to the broiler until the cheese melts, about 30 seconds.
- Place the buns split-side up on another baking sheet and toast under the broiler until just golden, 1 to 2 minutes. Brush the toasted sides lightly with the olive oil, rub with the remaining garlic clove and sprinkle with the remaining 1/4 cup parmesan. Return to the broiler until the cheese melts, about 30 seconds.
- Place each patty on a bun bottom and top with some sliced basil and a bun top. Serve with the spaghetti fries and warm tomato sauce for dipping.

MY HUSBAND'S FAVORITE BAKED BURGERS
Simple, flavorful hamburger recipe that my husband loves. Ketchup is the binder so no egg is required. They hold together very well. I bake them in the oven and they come out perfect every time! I serve these with a slice of cheese melted on top. Top as desired.

BAKED HAMBURGER PATTIES WITH PASTA SAUCE
I have made this easy recipe many times, it is really good, make certain that you purchase a larger crusty Italian-style bun that will hold up to the sauce --- yield is only estimated depending on how large you make the patties, and all ingredients can be adjusted to suite taste :)

BURGER PLATE
Inspired by German Hamburg steak and other patties of the world, including Danish frikadeller, Japanese hambagu and Korean hambak steak, this lunch-counter meal of ground beef is seasoned with Worcestershire sauce, nutmeg and grated onion. The rest is mere assembly, arraying fresh, crunchy accoutrements to accompany the tender burgers: Tomatoes lend juiciness, dill pickles provide zing and sweet raw onions cut through the richness of the meat. Though you could sandwich all of these ingredients between two slices of toasted bread, eating them as a casual plate lunch lets you appreciate each part separately. If you'd like, replace the ground beef with a plant-based ground meat substitute.

Steps:
- Using a Microplane or other fine grater, finely grate about 1 tablespoon of the onion from the root end into a large bowl and set aside. Slice the remainder of the onion crosswise into 1/2-inch-thick rings, add to a separate small bowl and fill with cold tap water. Soak the onion rings in the refrigerator to mellow out.
- To the bowl with the grated onion, add the ground beef, panko, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, brown sugar and nutmeg. Season with the salt and pepper. Form the beef into 4 patties (about 1-inch thick).
- Heat a large skillet over medium. Add enough oil to lightly coat the bottom of the pan and wait until it's shimmery. Carefully add the patties to the pan and cook until browned and caramelized, 2 to 3 minutes per side.
- Remove the pan from the heat, top each patty with a slice of cheese and cover the pan until the cheese is melted and the hamburgers are no longer pink on the insides, 1 to 2 minutes.
- To serve, evenly divide the cheese-topped patties, the tomatoes, pickles and bread among 4 plates. Drain the onions and add to the plates, along with a squirt each of ketchup and mustard. Eat with a knife and fork or, if you'd like, sandwiched between the bread.
