1-1/2 pounds ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
3/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
2 teaspoons white vinegar
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven, cook beef and onion over medium heat until beef is no longer pink, 6-8 minutes, breaking up beef into crumbles; drain. Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, water, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, vinegar and salt; heat through. Serve on buns. Freeze option: Place cooled beef mixture in freezer containers. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. Microwave, covered, on high in a microwave-safe dish until heated through, stirring occasionally; add water or broth if necessary.

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

1/4 teaspoon paprika

Steps:

  • Cut roast in half. Place in a 5-qt. slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, onion, brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt, celery seed, paprika and pepper; pour over roast. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until meat is tender., Remove meat. Skim fat from cooking juices; transfer to a large saucepan. Bring to a boil. Combine cornstarch and water until smooth; gradually stir into juices. Return to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened., When meat is cool enough to handle, shred with two forks. Here is a recipe for stove top cooked barbecue beef that just uses a few simple ingredients you probably have on hand. You can easily pop it all into a crock pot to cook too.

3 pounds beef chuck roast (boneless, fat trimmed, cut into 4 pieces)
1 cup barbecue sauce ( of your choice)
1/2 cup orange marmalade (or orange preserves)
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons brown sugar (packed )
1 onion (small, sliced)
12 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Place the beef roast into a pot, either a stove top pot or slow cooker.
  • In a medium bowl, mix the barbecue sauce, orange preserves, mustard, brown sugar and onion. Pour this mixture over the beef
  • Cover the pot and cook on the stove, over low heat, for 7 to 8 hours. If you are using a slow cooker, set it to low and cook for the same amount of time, 7 or 8 hours.
  • To bake the bbq beef in the oven, set the oven temperature to about 300ºF. Place everything in the pot as directed above, then pop the pot into the heated oven and bake for several hours.
  • When it is well cooked and very tender, remove the beef from the pot. You can either cut the meat into thin slices or shred it with two large forks. Put the shredded or sliced beef back into the pot and stir it into the sauce. Cover and cook again on low for 20 to 30 minutes until it is all nice and hot.
  • Fill your favorite buns with the barbecue beef.

1 (2 1/2 to 3-pound) beef chuck pot roast, or other cut suitable for roasting
1 tablespoon garlic powder
Salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 cup barbecue sauce, divided
2 tablespoons hot sauce, divided
12 Kaiser rolls or crusty Italian rolls, sliced

Steps:

  • To cook en papillote (on the grill, enclosed in foil), preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  • Rinse beef to remove any unwanted smells, pat dry with paper toweling and season with garlic powder and salt and pepper, and set aside briefly. Make an oven pouch out of a 3 foot length of heavy duty foil by bringing the 2 ends to the center, folding the sides to seal, and leaving an opening at the top center through which to place the sauce and beef. Shake flour in the pouch to coat the inside. Sear all sides of beef on the grill, then put beef in pouch and pour 1/2 cup of the barbecue sauce and 1 tablespoon of the hot sauce over the meat (reserving the rest of the barbeque sauce and hot sauce). Seal the foil pouch by folding shut. Grill bagged beef directly on grill for about 30 minutes per pound. Ideally this should be cooked until fork tender, so that you can pull it apart with a fork.
  • Let beef rest 10 minutes before carving into thin slices, or pulling it apart with a fork. Heat the reserved barbeque sauce and hot sauce in a small saucepan. Then chop or shred the sliced beef and serve on Kaiser rolls or crusty Italian rolls. Spoon a bit of the extra sauce over the meat.

2 -3 lbs roast (chuck or rump are my favorite)
1 (16 ounce) can of sweet baby ray's original barbecue sauce
2 minced garlic cloves
1 (12 ounce) can Coke (I use vanilla coke)
2 teaspoons onion salt
12 rolls or 12 French baguettes

Steps:

  • Put the chuck roast in the crock pot. pour the can of coke over the roast, sprinkle the onion salt on top of the roast add the minced garlic and then smother the whole thing with barbecue sauce.
  • Cook it on low for 8 - 10 hours. the meat will practically shred itself when you insert a fork into it. Just continue to move the fork around and mix the meat completely with the sauce.
