BACON CHEDDAR BUBBLE BREAD



Bacon Cheddar Bubble Bread image

Crispy cheese capping soft, buttery bread that is studded with bacon and more melted cheese.

Provided by Rebecca Lindamood

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 pound refrigerated (or thawed, previously frozen bread dough)
1/2 cup butter (melted)
1 1/2 cups finely shredded Cheddar cheese (or a blend of Cheddar and Monterey Jack, divided)
1 cup crumbled leftover cooked bacon
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives (parsley, or a combination of the two)
1 tablespoon minced onions (optional)
nonstick cooking spray or additional butter or oil for the pan

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Generously grease (or spray with nonstick cooking spray) an oven-safe 12-inch skillet or a bundt pan.
  • In a small mixing bowl, stir together the butter, 1 cup of the cheese cheese, bacon, chives or parsley, and minced onions. Set aside.
  • Divide the bread dough into 32 pieces and place the pieces in a large mixing bowl.
  • Pour the butter mixture over the bread and toss gently to distribute everything evenly and coat all the dough well.
  • Use your hands to arrange the dough evenly over the bottom of the greased pan.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top of the dough.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese on top is fully melted and crisped and the bread is golden brown.
  • Either turn out onto a serving plate or wait until the pan is comfortable to the touch before serving.

1 (11 ounce) package refrigerated dinner rolls
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, Finely shredded
1 tablespoon bacon bits

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F Lightly spray a oven proof bowl or small pan with vegetable oil.
  • On cutting board, separate dough into 8 rolls. Using kitchen shears, cut into quarters.
  • Mix finely shredded cheese and bacon bits, then toss cheese mixture with dough till lightly coated and place into oiled bowl or pan.
  • Then bake for 20-30 minutes or till top is a deep golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and run a knife around edge of bread to loosen. Lift bread out onto serving plate.
  • To serve pull apart pieces of rolls from bread loaf.

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350ºF.
  • Combine first 4 ingredients in medium bowl. Whisk egg, buttermilk and butter in separate bowl until blended. Add to flour mixture along with the bacon, cheese and chives; stir just until moistened.
  • Pour into 8x4-inch loaf pan sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Bake 45 to 50 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 15 min. Remove to wire rack; cool completely.

1/4 cup butter, melted
3/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
6 bacon strips, cooked and finely crumbled, divided
1/3 cup finely chopped green onions, divided
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons salt-free herb seasoning blend
1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
Optional: Alfredo sauce or marinara sauce

Steps:

  • Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface; divide and shape into 16 rolls. Place butter in a shallow bowl. In a large bowl, combine the shredded Parmesan, half the bacon, half the green onions, grated Parmesan, seasoning blend and sugar. Dip dough pieces in melted butter, then toss with cheese mixture to coat. 2 (1/4 ounce) packages active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup shortening

4 -4 1/2 cups flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup butter, melted

Steps:

  • soften yeast in warm water according to directions on package.
  • in a medium saucepan melt the shortening then add milk 1/2 cup sugar 2 tsp cinnamon and salt and scald( cook untill just boiling) then take off and move to mixing bowl.
  • add 1 cup flour and beat well add eggs beat to mix in add 1 cup more flour and yeast mixture and beakt untill smooth.
  • add in remaining flour untill you cant mix any more then knead on lightly floured surface 8-10 minutes
  • place in greased bowl turning once to grease surface cover let rise until double the size (1-1 1/2 hours).
  • punch down and let rest for 10 minutes.
  • mix the remaining sugar and cinnamon.
  • shape dough into balls about 28 about golf ball sized
  • roll each dough ball in melted butter and then cinnamon sugar.
  • and place in greased bundt pan cover and let rise til double (about an hour).
  • bake in oven at 350 for 35-40 minutes.

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons double-acting baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/8 teaspoon cayenne
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 large egg
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
5 slices bacon, cooked, drained and crumbled
1 cup black olives, chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • In a bowl combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, dry mustard and the cayenne. Add the butter and blend the mixture until it resembles meal. Stir in the cheddar cheese gently.
  • In a small bowl whisk together the egg, buttermilk and the Worcestershire sauce; stir the mixture into the flour mixture until it is not quite combined.
  • Add the bacon and olives and stir once again briefly until the dough is just combined.
  • Turn the batter into a well buttered loaf pan and bake the bread for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a tester comes out clean. Let the bread cool in the pan on a rack for 5 minutes, then turn it out onto the rack and let it cool completely.

  • Preheat the oven to 200C/fan180C/gas 6. Grease the base and sides of a 450g loaf tin and line the base with baking paper.
  • Snip the bacon into strips and dry-fry in a pan until crisp, then cool.
  • Meanwhile, put the flour, baking powder, salt and mustard powder into a bowl and stir. Add the cheese, bacon, egg, 225ml milk and parsley. Stir well with a wooden spoon until it has a soft dropping consistency – add extra milk, if needed.
  • Spread in the tin and bake for 25 minutes, until risen, golden brown and just firm to the touch. Serve warm or cold, with butter and cheese, if you like.
