1/2 cup canola oil
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 large head iceberg lettuce, sliced
6 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
1/3 cup sliced almonds, toasted
1/4 cup sesame seeds, toasted
4 green onions, sliced
3/4 cup chow mein noodles

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, whisk the oil, sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper; shake well. Chill for 1 hour. , Just before serving, in a salad bowl, combine the lettuce, bacon, almonds, sesame seeds and onions in a large bowl. Whisk dressing and pour over salad; toss to coat. Top with chow mein noodles.

1 medium red pepper (finely diced)
2 stalks celery (finely diced)
¼ medium red onion (finely diced)
¼ cup cilantro (chopped)
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
¼ cup roasted peanuts (can sub almonds or cashews)
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon honey
2 teaspoons soy sauce (gluten-free if needed)
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 small garlic clove (grated (preferably with a Microplane))
A pinch of sea salt

Steps:

  • Combine all the sesame dressing ingredients in a small jar and shake it well.
  • Add the Asian salad ingredients to a medium-sized bowl.
  • Pour the dressing over the top and toss to coat.

1 cup shelled edamame, cooked*
3 green onions, chopped
1/2 cup roasted cashews, finely chopped
Handful fresh cilantro, chopped
Crispy wonton strips optional**
3 Tbsp. sesame oil
3 Tbsp. rice vinegar
2 Tbsp. honey
1 Tbsp. fresh lime juice
1 1/2 tsp. freshly grated ginger
kosher salt and fresh black pepper

Steps:

  • In a large salad bowl, toss together all of the salad ingredients. If using wonton strips, hold off on adding those until after the dressing.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the dressing ingredients. Then pour over the salad and throughly toss to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.

4 green onions, chopped
DRESSING:
1/2 cup canola oil
1/3 cup white wine vinegar
1/4 cup sugar

  • In a large resealable plastic bag, combine soy sauce and sugar. Add chicken; seal bag and turn to coat. Refrigerate overnight., Just before serving, in a electric skillet or deep-fat fryer, heat oil to 375°. Fry wonton strips for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. , In a large salad bowl, combine the lettuce, mushrooms and onions. 3 English cucumbers, halved, seeds removed and sliced
3 scallions, sliced
Up to 1 bunch fresh cilantro, chopped
1/2 head or more napa cabbage, sliced
1/2 head or more purple cabbage, sliced
1/2 bunch kale, leaves torn off the stalks and shredded
2 cups peanuts, chopped
1/2 cup olive oil
1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup oyster sauce
1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons chopped fresh ginger
2 tablespoons sesame oil
2 to 3 cloves garlic, chopped

Steps:

  • For the salad: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti to al dente according to the package directions. Drain, rinse and let cool.
  • Mix together the cooked spaghetti, carrots, peppers, bean sprouts, cucumbers, scallions, cilantro, napa cabbage, purple cabbage and kale. Add the peanuts and toss together.
  • For the dressing: Whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice wine vinegar, brown sugar, ginger, sesame oil and garlic in a medium bowl.
  • Pour the dressing over the salad and mix together with tongs or your hands. If the salad seems a little dry, just mix up a little more of the wet ingredients of the dressing and throw it in. It's a very organic process.
  • Transfer to a large platter and serve.

3 cups broccoli slaw
1 cup thinly sliced red or yellow bell pepper
1/2 cup sliced green onions
1/2 cup chopped cilantro (optional)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey (or agave, brown sugar, or maple syrup)
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon grated ginger root
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Steps:

  • To prepare the dressing, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and crushed red pepper flakes together in a large mixing bowl. Set aside
  • Bring a large pot of water to a rapid boil. Add a large pinch of salt and pasta to the water once boiling. Cook the noodles according to package directions. Once the noodles are cooked, drain well in a colander but do not rinse the noodles.
