A marinade of honey, ginger, soy sauce, onion and garlic give this chicken dish an authentic Asian flavor without a lot of fuss.

1 (3 pound) whole chicken, cut into pieces
3 tablespoons chopped onion
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger root
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 tablespoons honey
¼ cup chopped green onions

Steps:

  • To Marinate: Arrange chicken pieces in a 9x13 inch baking dish. In a small bowl combine the onion, soy sauce, ginger, garlic and honey; mix together and spoon mixture over chicken. Cover dish and refrigerate to marinate for 1 hour, turning pieces once.
  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • Bake chicken at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) for 30 minutes. Turn pieces over and top with green onion, then continue baking for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until chicken is tender and cooked through and juices run clear. Serve immediately.

Asian Baked Chicken is mouthwatering, easy to prepare and requires just a few common ingredients.

8 Boneless Chicken thighs, skin on
1 cup honey
½ cup soy sauce
¼ cup garlic minced, about 12 cloves
¼ cup ginger, grated
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1-2 tsp Sriracha, sambal oelek or gochujang, (or any chili paste, to taste)
1 Tbsp sesame seeds, optional

Steps:

  • Rinse chicken thighs and place in a large baking dish skin side down.
  • In a small saucepan combine honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, and chili paste. Whisk together and cook over medium heat until the sauce comes to a low boil, and the brown sugar is completely melted. The sauce will start to thicken. Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool for 5-minutes.
  • Pour sauce over chicken, making sure all pieces are well coated.
  • Cover with foil and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2-hours, and up to 12-hours.
  • Once marinated, preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Place covered baking dish in the oven and bake for 30 minutes. Remover the foil from the pan and turn the chicken skin side up. Check temperature. Chicken is cooked at 165°F.Increase temperature to 375°F and bake for additional 5-15 minutes. Spoon extra juices that are at the bottom of the pan over the chicken thighs and cook to an internal temperature of 165°F.
  • Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.

Sweet and sour savory and umami, this Asian Baked Chicken Breasts has all the flavor and is so easy to make!

1 to 1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
2 Tbsp avocado oil
2 tsp sesame oil
1 Tbsp fish sauce
5 cloves garlic, minced
2 Tbsp pure maple syrup
¼ cup coconut aminos*
2 tsp sriracha, optional
3 Tbsp rice vinegar
¼ tsp sea salt, to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Add all of the ingredients for the marinade (everything but the chicken) to a small bowl and whisk until well-combined. 2. Transfer the boneless chicken breasts to a zip lock bag or a small container along with the marinade. Seal it and move everything around until the chicken is coated in marinade. Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes, ideally several hours (up to 24 hours). In addition to making the chicken breasts flavorful, marinating them will also help tenderize them. 3. When you're ready to bake the chicken breasts, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Transfer the chicken, including the marinade to a large casserole dish or large rimmed baking sheet or baking dish. Bake the chicken breasts for 15 minutes. 4. Remove the chicken from the oven and baste it thoroughly by spooning the juices over top of the breasts. 5. Adjust the oven to the High Broil setting and broil the chicken for 5 to 8 minutes, or until it is golden brown and the juices have begun to caramelize. Spoon the juices over the chicken again, and serve. To ensure the chicken is fully cooked use a meat thermometer to test the internal temperature of the chicken. Simply insert an instant read thermometer into the thickest part of the breasts and wait until the numbers stop increasing. Chicken is fully cooked when it reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit. 6. Serve the baked Asian baked chicken breasts with your favorite side dishes, and enjoy! Mashed potatoes, white rice, or roasted broccoli are some simple staples!

1 1/4 tablespoons rice wine (or water)

This is a delicious, quick and easy recipe! I made this a lot when I was a young adult, just starting to cook, and didn't have a lot of money to spend on fancy ingredients. The sauce also makes a great marinade for grilled chicken. The recipe is modified from a recipe I saw in a 6 ingredients or less type of cookbook, sorry I don't remember the exact name of the book, or the original recipe, I saw it in a library and I haven't come across this exact book since.

4 whole boneless skinless chicken breasts, halved. (Use less chicken if you like)
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar (1/2 Tbsp. is equal to 1 tsp. Cider Vinegar can be used in place of White Vinegar.)
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Place chicken in glass baking dish. (A 9 X 9, or 8 X 11 dish works well, I don't suggest using a 9 X 13).
  • In a small bowl combine soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, garlic powder and black pepper; stir or whisk until well blended. Pour sauce mixture over chicken.
  • Bake chicken with sauce mixture for about 20 - 30 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. For best results turn chicken over half way through cooking.

1/3 cup dark soy sauce
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon five-spice powder

Steps:

  • Marinate chicken pieces in all the other ingredients for at least 2 hours, turning pieces now and again.
  • Arrange in a single layer in a roasting dish and cook in a moderate oven (160 C / 325 F) for 30 minutes, turn pieces and cook a further 25 minutes.
  • Serve hot or cold (cooking time includes marinating time).
