¼ cup boiling water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • Combine peaches, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch in a large bowl. Toss to coat evenly, and pour into a 2-quart baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, combine flour, white sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Blend in butter with your fingertips or a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in water until just combined.
  • Remove peaches from oven, and drop spoonfuls of flour mixture over them.
  • Mix together 2 tablespoons brown sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Sprinkle entire cobbler with the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Bake until topping is golden, about 30 minutes.

3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • For the filling: Put the peaches, sugar, cinnamon, salt and lemon juice in a medium saucepan. Place over medium heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved and the peach juices begin to boil. Lower to a simmer and continue to cook for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat.
  • For the batter: Put the butter in a 2-quart baking dish and place it in the oven while it preheats. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

1 egg
¼ cup cold water

  • In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, 3 tablespoons sugar, and salt. Work in the shortening with a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. 1 cup sugar, divided
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 teaspoon Lemon Juice
1 stick butter, melted

Dash of salt
3/4 cup Milk

Steps:

  • Place peaches in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add ½ cup of the sugar.
  • Add extract.

The crust is buttery and flaky (I use a butter+shortening mix), it's not too thick and not too thin, and it's a FLAVORED crust, so it boasts a lot more than just butter and flour. The filling is perfect and can be adjusted to your taste. This is a REAL, TRADITIONAL STYLE COBBLER, the way it was meant to be. No biscuit-topping and no lattice-style crust here. Serve warm with premium vanilla bean ice cream or serve with whipped topping, drizzled caramel, and a sprinkle of nutmeg.

A recipe handed down through my family. My mom used to make this all the time, super easy, no fuss recipe. Not an exact recipe, one of those Southern specialties :-)

1 cup sugar
1 cup self-rising flour
1 egg
1/4 cup butter
2 (20 ounce) cans peaches
cinnamon, to taste
sugar, to taste

Steps:

  • Mix 1 cup sugar, flour and egg together.
  • Pour peaches in 9X13 pan.
  • Pour sugar mixture over peaches.
  • Melt butter and pour over top.
  • Sprinkle top with sugar and cinnamon.
  • Bake at 350~ until done (20-40 minutes usually).
  • Fork to test doneness of dough.

8 fresh peaches (peeled, pitted, and sliced into thin wedges)
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon lemon juice (fresh)
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small pieces
1/4 cup boiling water
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425.
  • In a large bowl, combine peaches, 1/4 cup white sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch.
  • Toss to coat evenly, and pour into a 2-quart baking dish.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine flour, 1/4 cup white sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Blend in butter with your fingertips, or a pastry blender, until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  • Stir in water until just combined.
  • Remove peaches from oven, and drop spoonfuls of topping over them.
  • Sprinkle entire cobbler with the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  • Bake until topping is golden, about 30 minutes.
