MAGIC CLEANER
This came from a book I have on household hints and ideas for everyday cleaning - I've taken some time and tried various soaps and found Dawn Power Clean is AWESOME. It is truly magic as the title states. It cleans the soap scum off my glass shower doors with hardly any scrubbing. I also keep a bottle in the kitchen and use it for stuck on foods! Try it on your grill - it really helps cut the grease! You need two 24 oz squirt bottles for this.

Steps:
- Add 8-1/2 ounces of dawn soap to two spray bottles. Heat vinegar in microwave until hot and pour 12 pounces into each bottle. Put the lid on and gently shake to incorporate. You now have a powerful cleaning product that will melt soap scum and tub and shower buildup, clean sinks, appliances and just about anything. Try using it on pots/pans/casserole dishes to remove stubborn baked on foods. I also use it on my grill - it really helps cut the grease! Just spray it on, scrub, rinse and be amazed. For tough soap scum build-up, spray the mixture on and allow it to sit as long as overnight. Then, scrub and rinse.

NON-TOXIC, NATUAL WINDOW CLEANER
I don't do a lot of window cleaning . . . as little as possible, actually. LOL However, I recently decided my front and back storm doors needed a thorough cleaning. A quick perusal, of my cleaning supplies, revealed that I didn't have a natural window cleaner. So, when when I was in the "Organic" Aisle, at the grocery store, I decided to check out window cleaners. After seeing that they were costing around $3.00+ for what appeared to be mostly vinegar and/or ammonia, I decided that was a no brainer, and came home, to make my own. After looking online, for a recipe, and not finding one, that didn't use ammonia, which makes me sick, I made up my own . . . and it works REALLY well!

Steps:
- Mix all ingredients together in a quart size canning jar. Pour into a 16 ounce spray bottle.
- Shake well, to distribute orange cleaner, which tends to rise to the top, of the liquid.
- Spray liberally onto glass, and use two microfiber cloths . . . One to get the dirt off, and one to wipe window dry.
- NOTE: I prefer to NOT use newspaper, due to the ink, which could be toxic.
- NOTE 2: If you are especially "chemically sensitive", you could use Castille Soap, in place of the Orange Cleaner and dish soap. The reason, that I use Vodka, instead of Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol, is that this is petroleum based, and I am hypersensitive to petrochemicals.

HOW TO CLEAN HOOD FILTERS
This method is nothing short of a miracle to clean kitchen hood filters. Non-toxic and cheap, cheap, cheap! The only problem you should have is finding the right vessel. I used a roasting pan, but maybe using a disposable aluminum pan would work. Add the soda at the beginning to the cool water so it doesn't fizz and overflow. As embarrassing as it may be for me to show how bad mine were, note the differences. The foremost filter in the picture is one that's been cleaned by this method.

Steps:
- Fill a large heat-resistant vessle, like a pot or flat rimmed baking sheet with baking soda. Add enough water to fill without spilling over. Place in the hood filter and turn up the heat to a slow boil.
- This takes about 5-10 minutes. Since I placed mine flat in a rimmed baking sheet, I was able to assist the removal of build up with a toothbrush. I, also, with tongs flipped the filter over. The water will foam, raising the residue to the top. Rinse thoroughly.
- Repeat with remaining filters.
