Easy Air Fryer French Toast Sticks image

These easy-to-make French toast sticks turn out great in an air fryer. Dry your bread out first so you don't end up having your bread fall apart during the soaking process. Serve with your favorite French toast toppings, such as powdered sugar, a sugar and cinnamon mix, or syrup.

4 slices slightly stale thick bread, such as Texas toast
parchment paper
2 eggs, lightly beaten
¼ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 pinch ground nutmeg

Steps:

  • Cut each slice of bread into thirds to make sticks. Cut a piece of parchment paper to fit the bottom of the air fryer basket.
  • Preheat air fryer to 360 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  • Stir together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl until well combined. Dip each piece of bread into egg mixture, making sure each piece is well submerged. Shake each bread stick to remove excess liquid and place in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook in batches, if necessary, to avoid overcrowding the fryer.
  • Cook for 5 minutes, turn bread pieces, and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

2 large eggs
⅓ cup milk
1 tablespoon salted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 slices day-old bread
cooking spray
1 teaspoon confectioners' sugar, or to taste

Steps:

  • Mix eggs, milk, butter, vanilla extract, and cinnamon together in a bowl.
  • Line an air fryer basket with parchment paper and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Dip each slice of bread into the milk mixture and place in the basket. Make sure they are not touching; work in batches if necessary.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 370 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Add basket and air fry French toast for 4 to 6 minutes; flip and cook for 2 to 3 minutes more. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.

6 slices day-old Texas toast
4 large eggs
1 cup 2% milk
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup crushed cornflakes, optional
Confectioners' sugar, optional
Maple syrup

Steps:

  • Cut each piece of bread into thirds; place in an ungreased 13x9-in. dish. In a large bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over bread; soak for 2 minutes, turning once. If desired, coat bread with cornflake crumbs on all sides. , Place in a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Freeze until firm, about 45 minutes. Transfer to an airtight container or resealable freezer bag and store in the freezer., To use frozen French toast sticks: Preheat air fryer to 350°. Place desired number on greased tray in air-fryer basket. Cook for 3 minutes. Turn; cook until golden brown, 2-3 minutes longer. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar if desired. Serve with syrup.

2 slices Italian bread, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1/2 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
2 ounces cream cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
2 large eggs
1/2 cup whole milk
1 tablespoon maple syrup
RASPBERRY SYRUP:
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/3 cup water
2 cups fresh or frozen raspberries, divided
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest
Ground cinnamon, optional

Steps:

  • Divide half of the bread cubes between two greased 8-oz. custard cups. Sprinkle with raspberries and cream cheese. Top with remaining bread. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs, milk and syrup; pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. , Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Bake, uncovered, at 350° until golden brown, 25-30 minutes. , Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine cornstarch and water until smooth. Add 1-1/2 cups raspberries, lemon juice, syrup and lemon zest. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Cook and stir until thickened, about 2 minutes. Strain and discard seeds; cool slightly. , Gently stir the remaining berries into syrup. Sprinkle French toast cups with cinnamon if desired; serve with syrup.
