Steps:
- Scrub sweet potatoes clean under running water.
- Poke holes ( all over) in the potatoes with a fork.
- Bake at 350 degrees f for about 1 hour or until they are soft ( place potatoes directly on rack withour wrapping n foil).
- Put butter in dish on table.
- Put brown sugar in dish on table.
- Score the sweet potatoes down the middle.
- Serve to everone and have each person put butter and brown sugar ( to liking ) on the potato.
- Eat.
GRANDMA'S THANKSGIVING SWEET POTATO YAMS
This is an EASY recipe that my grandmother used to make. This is one of my favorites of hers. I don't like sweet potatoes, but I love these. I got the recipe from a friend of hers (she has passed) and decided to share. It's delicious and a sweet treat.

Steps:
- Boil sweet potatoes until fork tender. Allow to cool. Peel the sweet potatoes and slice into 1" slices.
- In a bowl, stir together karo syrup, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.
- Arrange sweet potato slices in 11"x14" casserole dish.
- Pour mixture over potatoes.
- Slice margarine into slices and arrange on the top.
- Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove and mix the slices around. Put back in oven for 10-20 minute Serve hot.

I got this recipe from the Dear Abby Cookbook, and have made it every year for Thanksgiving since I was little. I find it to be equally good without the marshmallows. This is my favorite way to have sweet potatoes!

- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease 1-1/2 quart casserole. In large bowl, combine potatoes, honey, butter, sherry, pineapple juice, brown sugar, and salt.
- Mix well.
- Spoon into greased 1-1/2 quart casserole.
- Top with marshmallows.
- Bake at 350 degrees about 30 minutes.
