A SAFE SOLUTION TO LAUNDRY SOAP ( HOMEMADE SUBSTITUTE )
This is a solution for all those concerned with petrochemicals causing health problems in your family. I noticed many recipes on this site use Fels Naptha. This product contains mysterious ingredients like "colorants, perfume, cleaners". What does that mean? Any time a product fails to disclose their ingredients, you can be sure they are hiding something.

Steps:
- Grate the bar soap into a storage container with a lid.
- Add the borax and washing soda.
- mix.
- use about 1 Tablespoon per regular size load.
- Make sure to keep covered and away from kids and pets!

ECONOMICAL HOMEMADE LIQUID LAUNDRY SOAP
This homemade laundry soap can really help save money, plus it seems to work as well as the store bought soap. It cost about .30 cents per gallon to make! Prep time does not include letting the mixture set for 24 hours. NOTE I still use Downy in my Downy Ball to make my clothes soft!

Steps:
- Fill a saucepan with 6 cups water and add grated Fels Naptha soap.
- Heat on low until soap is dissolved.
- Stir in Washing soda and borax.
- Stir until thickened, and remove from heat.
- Add 1 quart hot water to 2 gallon bucket.
- Add soap mixture, and mix well.
- Fill bucket with hot water, and mix well.
- Set aside for 24 hours.
- Don't forget to cover the bucket to keep small children and pets out.
- Mixture will thicken and gel.
- Use 1/2 cup of mixture per load.
- If clothes are heavily soiled, use 1 cup of the mixture per load.

This is an easy and frugal way to make your own laundry soap. Try making your own scents using different scented soaps! This recipe orignally calls for fels naptha soap which you can find at your local walmart or major grocery stores. But I found just about any good soap will work just as well!
