Discussion Starter · #1 · Apr 13, 2010. I reloaded 5 rounds of 9MM 115 Gr. FMJ. with Alliant Power Pistol powder. I found a reloading forum and printed the data for this round. This data called for a 6.7 grain charge of powder. I put 6.2 grain in and shot the 5 rounds. Altho very accurate, I think the load is too hot.

MOST ACCURATE 9MM RELOAD - SIG TALK
The short answer is, NO, I use only 115 gr. plated or jacketed round nose bullets in my 9MM handguns. See below for the long answer. After years of experimenting with 9MM reloads; bullets (plated, jacketed, no lead), powders, loads, etc., I came to the conclusion that 115 gr. MY FIRST 115GR FMJ 9MM RELOADS - NORTHEASTSHOOTERS.COM
I use a COAL of 1.155 on most 124 and 115 gr FMJ projectiles for 9mm. I use 4.5 grs of Titegroup for 115 grainers and 4.3 grs for 124 grainers. There's plenty of data available online from the powder manufacturers, although alliant is pretty sparse. I go between the Speer and Lyman books a lot and whatever data I find online. -Mike

FAVORITE 9MM LOAD USING UNIQUE AND 115 GR JACKETED BULLET
7th. If I remember correctly, it doesn't even list a load using Unique for the 115gr, but it lists Unique for the 125gr and the 100gr. The 100gr shows 5.7grs of Unique as max, and since you're not supposed to subsitute charges for lighter bullets in heavier bullets (but the reverse is OK), then 5.7grs is over max for the 115gr.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR 9MM 115GR AND 124GR SUBSONIC LOADS. - REDDIT
My experience was that with the FMJ's and powder I use, the 115gr was useless. For my component selection, my powder charge went from unreliable functionality, to subsonic to supersonic in a space of .3gr. I abandoned the load as that my XL650 has a +/- .1gr with this powder and I was not going to have thousands of unreliable, or supersonic "subs"

OAL RELOADING 9MM 115GR - RUGER FORUM
Rainier reccomends using data for lead bullets when using thier plated bullets. If that data is not available they state to use jacketed data reducing maximum charge by 10%. As far as OAL goes, I have always made my rounds as long as I can, while still having 100% feeding. This ensures lighter pressure in the cartridge. Your loads should be fine.
